Google has been running its Find Hub tracking network for a while now but it's never actually made a tracker of its own to go with it, until now. Ahead of the Pixel 11 launch , a device called the "Google Pixel Tag" has turned up in retail listings and in a leaked photo.
Folks over at 9to5Google were the first ones to spot the tracker online across multiple retail listings with the model number GA12506.
The image shared by the publication shows the tracker in a "Fog Light" colourway and with an oblong shape. This is a design choice that sets it apart from most trackers on the market, which tend to either be circular or roughly square.
Samsung's Galaxy SmartTag uses a similar elongated shape, but the Pixel Tag looks noticeably taller, resembling a Fitbit Air with the band removed.
However, unlike Samsung's tag, Google's version doesn't appear to have any built-in mounting functionality. This suggests that it will lean on cases or accessories for attaching it to keys, bags, or luggage, similar to how Apple's AirTag works.
We also see a small grille near the bottom of the device and a product description on a Slovenian retail listing that explains its functionality. The translated product description reads:
The Google Pixel Tag smart tracker helps you locate lost items quickly and reliably using the secure "Find My Device" network. Never waste time searching for your keys, wallet, or luggage again. The Google Pixel Tag is a compact, lightweight, and durable smart tracker that attaches seamlessly to your most important items. By leveraging Google’s extensive and secure "Find My Device" network, you can check the exact location of your belongings at any time via your smartphone. The tracker features a loud speaker for easy locating nearby and is designed with a focus on fully protecting your privacy and personal data.
However, plenty of other details remain unconfirmed for now. It's unclear whether the Pixel Tag will support ultra-wideband tracking for more precise directional finding.
Battery details are similarly murky, with no confirmation on whether Google will go with a replaceable coin-cell battery like the AirTag or take the rechargeable route.
The Google Pixel Tag pricing is also anyone's guess at this point, though multi-packs or a bundle deal alongside the upcoming Pixel 11 wouldn't be a surprising move for Google.
You see, this isn't the first time the Pixel Tag has surfaced online. It was previously referenced in early Pixel 11 listings. However, this is certainly the first time we are seeing it.
The Alphabet-owned company's Made by Google event is scheduled for August 12, 2026, where the Pixel 11 series and the Pixel Watch 5 are also expected to debut. This makes it a reasonable bet that the Pixel Tag could launch alongside these devices. Only time will tell, so stay tuned for all the updates.
