It's that time of the year again when Google launches a new Pixel smartwatch and this year, it is the Pixel Watch 5. Now, there are still close to two months left before it goes official, as per the brand's usual track record. However, in a bizarre twist of fate, a scuba diver of all people has managed to get his hand on the smartwatch in the wildest fashion.
Google Pixel Watch 5 Leak Emerges from the Ocean
X user Randy Pitchford shared a bunch of images claiming that they belong to the unreleased Pixel Watch 5. He claims his friend found the smartwatch at the bottom of the ocean bed at St. Martin, a Caribbean island, while scuba diving.

While from the front the watch looks exactly like the Pixel Watch 4 with the official Pixel Watch Active Sport Band, it is only when flipped from the back that we get to know it's not the current generation at all.
The back shows clear "Pixel Watch 5" marking along with some other key details highlighted like IP68 rating, 45 mm size, Sleep tracking, SpO2, Heart Rate sensor, UWB and EDA. Going by this, it is identical to what the Pixel Watch 4 offers.

The leaker also notes that the watch was able to show the time momentarily before the battery went dead. This means that all it needs to be back up is a quick charge. This is pretty impressive since there is no way to know how long it was underwater.
This is the first time we are hearing about the Pixel Watch 5 as well. Google has been infamous for getting its products leaked way ahead of time. Last year, the Google Pixel 10 was caught filming at a beach several months ahead of launch.
That said, the Pixel Watch 5 is expected to be Google's biggest leap in smartwatches yet. It is expected to shift away from the Snapdragon W5 Gen 2 chipset in favour of in-house Tensor SoC and is also going to be the first smartwatch to launch with WearOS 7 update, bringing features like Gemini Intelligence, Wear Widgets, Wear Workout Tracker and enhanced System Media Controls.
