Alongside the Android 17 QPR1 update, Google has also released the September 2026 Pixel Drop, with the most notable addition being a Harry Potter Audiobook Pack for Pixel phones. This is a limited-time opportunity for Harry Potter fans to give their Pixel phones a magical makeover.
As per the Google News blog post, the Harry Potter Theme pack lets users change their wallpaper, icons and sounds with a single tap, using elements drawn from the audiobooks. The feature is available from the Pixel 6 series to the new Pixel 11 lineup and is available to download until December 31, 2026.
Moreover, alongside the new theme pack, all eligible Google Pixel phones get a free two-month Audible trial. The offer runs until January 24, 2027, and is available in these ten countries: India, the USA, Canada, the UK, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Japan and Australia.
As for the timing of the new Pixel Harry Potter Theme release, it is not coincidental. The pack and the free Audible trial exist to mark the release of Harry Potter: The Full-Cast Audio Editions on Audible. This makes sense since Pixel theme packs have been tied to commercial releases since they launched.
The December 2025 Pixel Drop release brought Wicked: For Good film theme packs and Google also added a dedicated SpongeBob theme pack to Pixel phones. Aside from the new Harry Potter theme pack, the September 2026 Pixel Drop also brings expanded Scam Detection in Google Messages, improved Pixel VIPs and Pixel Watch improvements.
That said, since Pixel Drops roll out in stages, the update may take a few days to reach every eligible Pixel user. So make sure to update your phone to the latest software version by going to Settings -> System -> Software updates.
