With the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor now official, Android smartphone brands are rushing to announce their upcoming smartphones bearing the chipset. Now, Honor has joined the list with the official confirmation of the Honor Magic 8 Pro.
Honor Magic 8 Pro to arrive with an AI button
The official Weibo handle of Honor has revealed that the upcoming Magic 8 Pro smartphone will launch with the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor at the helm. Honor Product line President, Fang Fei officially made the announcement at a dedicated Qualcomm Snapdragon Summit China 2025 Special event and even gave us our first official look at the smartphone.

The design of the smartphone looks almost identical to the 2024 Honor Magic 7 Pro. However, unlike the previous gen smartphone's curved back panel, the upcoming smartphone features a completely flat glass back. It appears frosted in the light blue colour option that has been showcased.
Additionally, the most significant change this time around, or to be more precise, addition, is the new physical AI button which is placed just below the volume rocker and the power button on the right side of the device.

While Fei has not revealed the exact use of this new button, we believe users will be able to summon their favourite AI's using it. There is also the possibility that it is a customisable button, just like the Action Button on iPhones. Or it could also act as a Camera Control module, which we saw with the iPhone 16 series and the iPhone 17 series.
Apart from this new addition, the design looks fairly similar to the Magic 9 Pro. It still has the circular camera deco in the middle with the Honor branding at the bottom. There is also the speaker grille, USB-C port, microphone cutout and the SIM tray at the bottom just like the 2024 model.

That said, obviously, the big highlight with the Honor Magic 8 Pro will be the addition of the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor and the new physical button. As for the other specs, expect the smartphone to feature a 1.5K 120 Hz LTPO OLED display, Android 16-based Magic UI 10.0, triple 50 MP rear camera setup and more.
We will know more once the device will start hitting the rumour mill properly in the coming days. Since the brand has confirmed that the smartphone will launch in October 2025, hopefully, we will not have to wait long to know more details about the device. Additionally, the Honor Magic Pad 3 Pro has also been confirmed to launch alongside the smartphone. So, there's that as well.
