Huawei has officially launched the Huawei Nova 16 SE in China, reviving the SE branding for its Nova lineup after the Nova 12 SE in 2024. It is the fifth phone in the Huawei Nova 16 lineup and sits below the Nova 16z as the most entry-level phone. It brings a big battery, a large OLED display and a capable Kirin chipset to the mix.
Huawei Nova 16 SE Specifications and Features
One of the immediately noticeable aspects of the Huawei Nova 16 SE is its design, as it's nothing like the Huawei Nova 16, Nova 16 Pro, Nova 16 Ultra and Nova 16z in the lineup. Instead, the smartphone closely resembles the design of the Honor Power 2.
The phone features an extended camera plateau and a triangular camera lens placement like the iPhone 17 Pro. Huawei Nova 16 SE is available in Starry Black, Sky White, Dawn Orange and Sakura Sky colour options.
At the front, the smartphone offers a 6.84-inch 1.5K 120 Hz OLED display with 1,440 Hz PWM dimming frequency and a whopping 8,000 nits of peak brightness. To further enhance the multimedia experience, the phone features a stereo speaker setup.
Under the hood, the Huawei Nova 16 SE is powered by the Kirin 8020 chipset, the same as the one found inside last year's Huawei Nova 15. The SoC is paired with up to 512 GB of internal storage. Out of the box, the phone runs on the brand's in-house HarmonyOS 6.1 operating system.
For photos and videos, the Huawei Nova 16 SE brings a Red Maple-branded triple-lens setup, featuring a 50 MP RYYB main sensor. The brand has not revealed the details about the other two lenses yet. On the front, the phone gets a 32 MP selfie camera.
Battery is another area where the Huawei Nova 16 SE shines. The phone is equipped with an 8,500mAh cell capacity with support for 66W fast charging. There is also the option for reverse wired charging at 22.5W.
As for the rest, the phone gets a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, infrared sensor, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, NFC, GPS, Beidou Satellite messaging and a USB-C port. The Huawei Nova 16 SE also bears IP66 + IP68 + IP69 +IP69K ratings for dust and water resistance.

Huawei Nova 16 SE Pricing and Availability
The Huawei Nova 16 SE starts in China from 2,499 Chinese yuan (approximately Rs 35,500) for the 256 GB storage variant. It goes all the way up to 3,199 Chinese yuan (approximately Rs 45,100) for the 512 GB model. The phone is already on sale via the Huawei China Huawei VMall website.
