Huawei is officially reviving one of its most ambitious wearable implementations, the Watch Buds. After a three-year hiatus, the company has confirmed the Huawei Watch Buds 2 launch date in China.
Huawei Watch Buds Launch Date Confirmed for April 20
The Huawei Watch Buds 2 is now confirmed to debut alongside the Huawei Pura 90 series launch in China on April 20, 2026, at 16:00 CST (or 4:30 PM IST). Just like its predecessor, as the name already suggests, the Watch Buds 2 smartwatch will feature a built-in TWS, bringing a hybrid wearable experience.

To recall, India smartphone brand Ai+ recently released the Ai+ NovaWatch Earbuds in India, which followed the same earbuds inside the smartwatch mantra. However, the Huawei Watch Buds 2 will feature a cleaner implementation.
Instead of housing the earbuds at each side of the smartwatch's frame, Huawei is housing them in a compartment tucked underneath the smartwatch's screen.
Users can simply open the top circular display like a candy box lid to gain access to in-ear bullet-like earbuds, which remain attached magnetically inside. It also charges via the same implementation. However, a con of this design is reduced battery capacity since a major chunk of the body is carved out to fit in the earbuds.
Hence, it will be interesting to see what advancements Huawei has planned for Watch Buds 2. Given the lightspeed innovation in silicon-carbon battery tech, we will not be surprised if Huawei Watch Buds 2 manages to pack a massive capacity despite having smaller cells within. That said, we will know for sure once the earbuds go official next week. So, stay tuned.
