We are just a week away from the official WWDC 2026 event and the iOS 27 leaks are nowhere ending. From the new Gemini-powered Siri to changes in core iOS apps like the camera app, the Cupertino brand may have a lot planned this year. Now, it seems like Apple Wallet is also getting an upgrade, making bill splitting easier.
Apple Wallet To Automate Bill Splitting in iOS 27
As per the latest Power On newsletter by Mark Gurman via Bloomberg, Apple is making splitting bills easy inside Apple Wallet in iOS 27. It is said to get a new tool which will allow users to take a picture of physical receipts and use a digital copy to assign items to different people.

The system will then assign the due share to each user and notify them to pay their share inside Apple Wallet as well as via iMessages, which is similar to how Google Pay works. It is also said to sync with Apple Watch, meaning users will also be notified on their smartwatch for any new bill split generated.
This new tool is said to be tied to Apple Cash, meaning that users will only split payments made using Apple Cash and receive the dues in the same peer-to-peer form. It is unclear at the moment if other payment methods like Card, Venmo and more are supported.
While on the surface it seems like a regular bill-splitting upgrade to Apple Wallet, it could prove to be much more cohesive. A previous leak hinted that Apple Wallet is said to be getting a significant upgrade with Apple Intelligence. It will allow users to scan physical event tickets, gym membership cards and event passes to generate a verified digital version.
With the two features combined, Apple Wallet could become the go to e-wallet option for iOS users to not only make payments but also store their virtual identity cards and use the same to receive payments as well.
