iQOO 15's long-term software support is going to be a first for the brand

According to tech publication SmartPrix, iQOO is going to offer 5 years of software and 7 years of security updates for the upcoming iQOO 15 in India. If true, this will make it the first smartphone from the brand to offer such extensive support.

For context, the last-gen iQOO 13 was the highest supported smartphone at the time with 4 years of Android and 5 years of security support. However, it looks like the iQOO 15 will top even that. Moreover, it is important to note that the iQOO 15 will become the first smartphone in India to ship with OriginOS 6 based on Android 16 out of the box.

Hence, expect the smartphone to receive updates till OriginOS 11 based on Android 21. Aside from that, the smartphone will also become the third Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 phone in the country after the OnePlus 15 and the Realme GT 8 series, which are launching before the iQOO 15.
