JioBharat Safety-first phone is aimed at kids and elderly
Jio announced the JioBharat Safety-first phone at the India Mobile Congress 2025 today, on October 8, 2025. Priced at Rs 799, it features location monitoring, making it easier for users to track the live location of family members. Jio is calling the suite "Safety Shield".

Besides this, the Usage Manager feature lets caretakers take control of who can call or message the device, along with the ability to block unknown numbers. The JioBharat Safety-first phones are also capable of reporting their battery level and network strength to the administrator.
Jio claims that the phone's battery can last for up to 7 days on a single charge. Jio's marketing suggests that the JioBharat Safety-first phone will be the perfect basic communication device for children. It could protect them from the harmful effects of social media, while their guardians can track their location to ensure their safety.
Jio did not reveal detailed specifications of the device. However, it did tell us how the safety features work. The official launch banner mentions that the JioBharat Safety-first phones can be registered and accessed via the JioThings app, available on Android and iOS. The banner also shows the design of the phone in its blue colourway, which isn't anything to write home about.
Jio says the phone will be available via offline Jio Stores and offline stores. It will also be available on e-commerce storefronts like JioMart, Amazon and Swiggy Instamart. Although the firm has yet to reveal its exact date of availability, to reiterate, the device will cost Rs 799.
