MediaTek could unveil the next-generation Dimensity 9600 as early as mid-September, according to a new leak. The earlier launch would likely pave the way for the Vivo X500 series and Oppo Find X10 series to arrive before the first Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6-powered phones.
The information comes from a Weibo post by Digital Chat Station, revealing that the Dimensity 9600 could arrive sometime in mid-September. Following its debut, Vivo and Oppo are said to reveal the X500 series and Find X10 series in late September 2026.
The tipster adds that this timeline gives the upcoming Vivo and Oppo flagships a strong chance of debuting ahead of rival smartphones powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6. For those unaware, Qualcomm has already confirmed the Snapdragon Summit 2026 event for September 22, 2026.

Both MediaTek and Qualcomm are also expected to follow a multi-chip strategy for their next-generation flagship platforms. The Dimensity 9600 series could reportedly include a Dimensity 9600s, Dimensity 9600 Pro and Dimensity 9600 Pro Max variants to target different flagship segments.
Similarly, six variants of the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 were tipped recently. These variants will likely determine which flagship smartphones get the top-tier silicon and which models opt for slightly toned-down versions to manage costs during the ongoing RAM crisis.
For those unaware, the Vivo X500 could consist of the vanilla Vivo X500, X500 Pro and Vivo X500 Pro Max. Meanwhile, Oppo could follow with a similar lineup strategy that includes the Find X10, Find X10 Pro and Find X10 Pro Max.

The Pro Max smartphones are expected to bridge the gap between the Ultra flagships and the smaller Pro phones. Since hardcore flagships could see a huge price bump, users could consider the Pro Max variants to get most of the Ultra's features.
A recent Vivo X500 Pro Max camera leak suggests that it could arrive with the same display size and quality as the X500 Ultra, as well as enhanced dual-200 MP cameras, including a main and periscope snappers. It could also arrive with a monstrous battery capacity of over 8,000mAh.
More information about the Vivo X500 and Oppo Find X10 series should be revealed as we inch closer to Dimensity 9600's launch in mid-September. Until then, stay tuned.
