After much anticipation, MediaTek has launched its next-generation Dimensity 9600 Pro flagship processor alongside the standard Dimensity 9600M chipset. The processors bring performance and efficiency improvements with faster cores and a newer TSMC manufacturing process.
Dimensity 9600 Pro Specifications
MediaTek Dimensity 9600 Pro boasts an "All Big Core" 2+3+3 architecture and is manufactured on TSMC's latest 2nm N2P process. The core setup includes 2x C2-Ultra cores clocked at 4.55 GHz, 3x C2-Pro cores at 4.35 GHz and another 3x C2-Pro efficiency cores at 3.1 GHz.

According to MediaTek, this layout yields a 17% bump in single-core performance while slashing multi-core power consumption by a staggering 61% compared to the previous generation.
MediaTek's official scores show that the chipset breaks through the 4,000 and 12,000 marks in single- and multi-core scores on Geekbench V6.4. It scores 4,276 points and 12,650 points, a 17% and 15% increase compared to the Dimensity 9500 processor.

Complementing the performance gains, the chip natively supports the latest LPDDR6 RAM and UFS 5.0 storage, supported by a new AI Computing Fusion Architecture and a massive 34.5 MB cache.
Speaking of which, MediaTek is leaning heavily into generative capabilities with a dedicated dual-NPU design. The company claims the upgraded NPU 1090 can handle complex on-device models up to 30B parameters, boosting LLM prefill performance by 51%. Meanwhile, a secondary Super Efficient NPU trims the always-on AI power draw by 40%.

Gaming is handled by an integrated G2-Ultra NX GPU. MediaTek's figures claim a 27% performance increase and 18% faster ray tracing, all while being 24% less power-hungry. Combined with the MediaTek Neural Graphics Architecture and HyperEngine, the silicon is capable of driving sustained frame rates up to 185 FPS.
For photography, the Dimesity 9600 Pro features the Imagiq 1290 ISP, which brings native support for 4K 240 FPS ultra-slow-motion recording directly from the sensor, alongside 17EV high dynamic range and 4K 120 FPS cinematic log capture.
The Dimensity 9600 Pro will power the next generation of Vivo and Oppo flagships, including the Vivo X500 Pro series and Oppo Find X10 Pro series.

To ensure these advancements reach a broader audience, MediaTek also unveiled the Dimensity 9600M. It is positioned below the Pro tier but retains the core Agentic AI Engine, the intelligent Dimensity Scheduling Engine, and HyperEngine gaming support (up to 185 FPS).
The Dimensity 9600M is expected to power standard Vivo and Oppo flagships, the Vivo X500 and Oppo Find X10. It appears to be a rebranded Dimensity 9500 processor with similar peak 4.21 GHz clock speeds and a 3nm TSMC manufacturing process.

The Dimensity 9600 Pro is a direct competitor to the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 processor. Qualcomm is expected to unveil the processor during the Snapdragon Summit on September 22, 2026, alongside a standard Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6.
It should be interesting to see how both processors stack up against each other. We will be testing both to see which one comes out on top. Until then, stay tuned.
