Summary

  • In the leaked AnTuTu benchmark, the MediaTek Dimensity 9500 scores 4,011,932 points.
  • Its 8-core ARMv9 CPU SME could deliver great performance with scores of over 11,000 points in multi-core in Geekbench.
  • MediaTek's Dimensity 9500 SoC is expected to debut with the Vivo X300 and Oppo Find X9 series.

MediaTek has finally launched the Dimensity 9500, and it packs a serious punch on paper. It features MediaTek's third generation all big core design with ARM's latest C1 cores, while also featuring a major GPU upgrade. So, let's delve into all the key aspects of the Dimensity 9500, including its CPU, GPU architecture and performance. While we're yet to test the SoC, we've included the leaked AnTuTu and Geekbench scores to give you a rough initial idea about how the processor performs.

MediaTek Dimensity 9500 AnTuTu Score (Leaked)

In the leaked AnTuTu benchmarks, the Dimensity 9500 tested on the Vivo X300 Pro breaks the 4 million mark with a score of 4,011,932. The upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 is also expected to achieve this feat.

The Dimensity 9500 uses Arm's latest C1 series CPU cores. The architecture consists of 1x C1-Ultra clocked at 4.21 GHz, 3x C1-Premium at 3.5 GHz and 4x C1-Pro cores at 2.7 GHz. The new cores promise 32% faster performance per core, while being 55% more efficient. The same goes for multi-core peak power usage, which has been reduced by 37%.

ARM's new Immortalis (Drage) Mali-G1-Ultra MC 12 is a step up from last year's Immortalis-G925. MediaTek claims it offers 33% more peak performance while bumping up the efficiency by 42%. Besides, it boasts double the ray tracking units and is capable of delivering 120 frames per second with ray tracing turned on.

If the leaked Dimensity 9500 AnTuTu GPU scores are to be believed, compared to what the Dimensity 9400's GPU scored in our tests, there's around 26% improvement in GPU performance. The eight CPU cores in the leaked benchmarks manage to score 1,043,247 points. However, the most impressive thing about these scores is the thermal performance, as it reportedly didn't exceed 36°C, just like the Snapdragon 8 Elite

The Geekbench test is widely used to tap into the CPU performance. MediaTek revealed during the event that the Dimensity 9500 scores 4,007 points in single-core and 11,217 points in multi-core, which is a significant 32% and 17% increase, respectively.

The multi-core score is pretty close to the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5's 11,525 points. In single-core, the Dimensity 9500 surprisingly triumphs the Snapdragon by a decent 200-point margin. If MediaTek's claims are anything to go by, the Dimensity 9500 is much closer in performance to the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 than the Snapdragon 8 Elite.

And that's all we know about the Dimensity 9500's benchmarks and specifications. The Vivo X300 and Oppo Find X9 series are expected to be some of the first devices to feature Dimensity 9500, and will be followed by more flagship devices in the future.

The bottom line is, the Dimensity 9500 almost closes the performance gap and seriously challenges Qualcomm's upcoming flagship processor. It should be interesting to see how both the processors fare in real world testing, so stay tuned.
