Barely hours after Apple's first foldable iPhone Duo launched, Motorola fired back with a cheeky teaser of its own, hinting at a new, wider Razr foldable built in the same short-and-stout mold.
Motorola posted the clip on Instagram and X, poking fun at Apple's new iPhone Duo with a knowing wink. In the caption, the brand needled that longtime Razr fans already know the feeling of a satisfying flip-phone hang-up, adding that it's "been making it even better".
It also teased that its "next move" is on the way, capped off with a pair of eyes emoji and the #Razr hashtag.
The video itself opens with the original pink Motorola Razr flip phone and moves through several generations of Razr foldables. It ultimately ends on the company's current book-style Motorola Razr Fold, which launched earlier this year.
Right after that, the screen cuts to a blacked-out silhouette of a new device, one that's noticeably shorter and wider than the existing Razr Fold. It closely mirrors the squat, landscape-oriented shape of Apple's iPhone Duo.
Motorola hasn't confirmed any details about the foldable, including its name or launch timeline, but the teaser offers a few visual clues. For starters, a camera bar appears to run the full width of the phone's rear panel. Also, a button is visible on the top left of the inner display in the shot.

Based on the shape and framing, this looks less like a new version of Motorola's classic clamshell Razr and more like a wider take on the book-style Razr Fold.
The timing is not surprising though, since this echoes the wider, shorter aspect ratio that's suddenly having a moment across the industry. Earlier this year, the Huawei Pura X Max launched as the world's first wide foldable. Then, Samsung moved in this direction with the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Xiaomi showed off its own take with the Xiaomi 18 Fold at IFA 2026.
Apple's iPhone Duo pricing, which starts at Rs 2,99,900 in India, is simply the latest and highest-profile entrant to bet on the wider foldable format over the traditional tall-and-narrow book fold.
That price tag also matters here. At nearly Rs 3 lakh, the iPhone Duo sits firmly in ultra-premium territory, well above the Galaxy Z Fold 8's Rs 1.8 lakh starting price. If Motorola's next Razr does land in this wider form factor, it could give buyers a more affordable way into the format.
This would continue the brand's push to build out a full foldable portfolio, which already includes three clamshell Razr models alongside the full-sized book-style Razr Fold.
