The Tim Cook era is officially over and Apple is already putting John Ternus front and centre. The company has revamped its leadership structure on its website, while its new CEO has made his first move into the public spotlight with a brand-new X account.
John did not have an X account before taking the CEO helm and has now finally made one with the ID @johnternus. He quickly gained over 2.6 lakh followers in just two hours and posted a simple "Hello," which garnered over 1.9 lakh likes and 97 lakh impressions.
Besides, to mark John's ascension, his online biography on the official Apple website has been updated to reflect his track record and achievements within the company.
Apple has not yet listed a successor to its previous role as Senior VP of Hardware Engineering. However, the rest of the executive team is now officially listed as reporting directly to Ternus.
Tim Cook has stepped down as Apple CEO and has been moved to the Board of Directors section at the bottom of the portal, holding his new title of Executive Chairman. Similarly, his profile has also been updated, emphasising his milestone.
Additionally, the updated board layout on the website now features portraits for all nine members, giving Ternus a second headshot on the site. That said, the overall list of executives has shrunk by two, accounting for Cook’s board transition and the previous retirement of former general counsel Kate Adams.
Some of the other changes to profiles were Jennifer Newstead, with the addition of Government Affairs to her General Counsel title. Phil Schiller, Kevan Parekh and Johny Srouji's bios have also been altered to reflect their current standings. For those unaware, recently, Phil Schiller stepped back from overseeing the App Store and Apple product events. While he is retaining his Apple Fellow title, he will be working on specific projects moving forward.
John Ternus will be the new face of Apple events, starting with Apple's Rise & Shine event scheduled for September 9, 2026. The Cupertino tech giant is expected to reveal the iPhone 18 Pro series alongside its first foldable, the iPhone Ultra.
