OnePlus has started teasing the soon to debut OnePlus 16 in China. Ahead of an official launch date confirmation, the brand has shared the design, colourways and RAM and storage configurations of the smartphone.
The official OnePlus China website has opened reservations for the OnePlus 16 in three colour options: Tomorrow Starlight, Dark Forest and Martian Masterpiece. The smartphone will be available in four RAM and storage options: 12 GB + 256 GB, 12 GB + 512 GB, 16 GB + 512 GB and 16 GB + 1 TB.
As for the design of the OnePlus 16, the smartphone shares the same look as last year's OnePlus 15, with its metal square camera deco, rounded R-corners and the dedicated AI Mind Space Key on the left.
The only highlight of the OnePlus 16's design is the new colourways, especially the Tomorrow Starlight one, which features an interactive breathing light built into the rear panel that illuminates the OnePlus branding and a set of celestial coordinates.

Since OnePlus has retired OxygenOS in favour of ColorOS in markets like India, the OnePlus 16 will become the first OnePlus phone to ship with the ColorOS 17 update out of the box. OnePlus China President Li Jie has also confirmed that the OnePlus 16 will feature three exclusive gaming technologies.
In addition, OnePlus 16 is confirmed to support a 165 Hz refresh rate across the entire system, not just in select games or apps. This will help the smartphone maintain a consistent 165 Hz refresh rate, no matter which app, service or menu users open, making it the norm across the UI.
Beyond this, OnePlus hasn't confirmed much else officially, but the rumour mill has been active. The OnePlus 16 recently surfaced on China's 3C certification database, with the listing pointing to 100W wired charging support.
Other leaks and reports suggest that the phone could pack a 200 MP primary rear camera, a 9,000mAh battery and the yet-to-be-announced Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 chipset. For those unaware, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 will go official at the Snapdragon Summit September 2026 event, which is scheduled to start on September 22.
