Just last month, reports of OnePlus exiting India by 2027 started surfacing online, raising a lot of questions about the brand's future in the country. Although OnePlus did refute India shutdown claims right after, the brand is now dismissing speculations once again to make its stance clearer than ever before.
Speaking to tech publication Gadgets360, Rahul Arora, Director of Sales and Affordability at OnePlus India, said the company continues to view India as a key market. Moreover, he states that the brand is focused on expanding its product portfolio, after-sales network and ecosystem.
Our confidence comes from staying consistent in a market that has continuously evolved. Over the past five years, our focus has remained unchanged: delivering meaningful innovation, strong value and a dependable ownership experience for our users.
— Rahul Arora, Director of Sales and Affordability, OnePlus India
The added clarification also comes after OnePlus officially pulled out of the US and several European markets as part of a broader global restructuring, which didn't exactly help the brand's case.
Arora has also pointed to the brand's recent growth to back its claims. Citing CyberMedia Research (CMR) data, OnePlus says it recorded 74% year-on-year growth in H1 2026.
Meanwhile, the OnePlus Nord 6, OnePlus Nord CE 6 and OnePlus Nord CE 6 Lite each became the best-selling smartphones in their respective price segments on Amazon during launch sales. In fact, to be specific, as per the brand, its Nord series sales grew by 35%. Additionally, OnePlus states that online sales jumped by up to 47%.

Beyond smartphones, OnePlus says its tablet business grew 23% year-on-year in the first half of 2026. The company has also expanded its after-sales presence to over 600 service centres across more than 500 cities and plans to reach over 100,000 students this year through its Campus Dominate initiative.
Arora also acknowledged the industry's ongoing RAM crisis, saying that despite that, OnePlus intends to continue bringing meaningful upgrades to its Nord lineup rather than cutting back on features.
Very recently, the OnePlus N6x launched in India as the brand's most affordable budget phone to date, sitting just below the Nord lineup. Moreover, sitting above the N6x is the OnePlus N6, which features several meaningful upgrades.
So, it's not just the Nord lineup that the brand is focusing on, as this newly introduced "N" series of phones is also aiming to dominate the budget segment.

Now, another key highlight of the latest interview was software. Following OnePlus' recent decision to phase out OxygenOS in favour of ColorOS 17, Arora said this move is part of building "one connected OnePlus ecosystem". This ecosystem will span smartphones, tablets and audio products to enable faster software updates and better cross-device integration.
While OnePlus undeniably scaled back its global footprint by exiting the US and Europe, the company maintains that India remains central to its long-term plans. This is further backed by OnePlus expanding its India service network via Oppo by 50% back in March 2026, currently standing at over 600 authorised Oppo service centres across 500+ Indian cities.
Based on its recent launches and what Arora had to say in this interview, there's not much to suggest that OnePlus will be exiting India anytime soon.
