Realme is confirmed to unveil the GT 8 series in China next month and the brand has already started teasing the details of the GT 8 and the GT 8 Pro. While not much is known officially about the standard option, the brand today has spilt some more info regarding the GT 8 Pro.
The Realme GT 8 Pro periscope camera will support 12x lossless zoom
Aric Song, the Marketing Communication Director of Realme, took to Weibo to reveal that the upcoming GT 8 Pro will bring a 200 MP periscope telephoto camera to the mix. He has further revealed that the periscope module will support 3x optical zoom and 12x lossless zoom.

This will be a serious improvement over the Realme GT 7 Pro, which managed to bring only a 50 MP Sony IMX882 periscope lens to the table. Song has not revealed which sensor the 200 MP lens will use, However, we believe it to be a Samsung HP sensor.
Moreover, in a separate Weibo post, Realme executive Derek shared some more details for the Realme GT 8 Pro, specifically about its display and battery. He has confirmed that the upcoming Pro phone will feature a 2K 144 Hz flat AMOLED panel with up to 7,000 nits of peak brightness. For context, the GT 7 Pro featured a 1.5K 120 Hz quad-curved AMOLED display with 6,000 nits of peak brightness.

He claims that a 2K resolution panel will greatly improve the display quality while reducing the overall power consumption. Also, the choice for a flat screen over a quad-curved one seems to be mostly for an improved gaming experience. Derek explains that a flat screen also makes "it easier to apply a screen protector".
Apart from this, Derek has also mentioned that the GT 8 Pro's panel will improve the overall colour accuracy via hardware-level chip colour calibration and will support global full-brightness DC dimming.

Lastly, he has also confirmed that the Realme GT 8 Pro will arrive with a 7,000mAh battery to complement the display upgrade this time around.
This year, with the improvement of battery energy density, the battery capacity has been upgraded to 7K mAh, which greatly improves the battery life experience of mobile phones.

Realme GT 8 Pro other expected specs
While the brand is yet to reveal any other details of the device, we have a fairly decent idea of how the Realme GT 8 Pro will shape up. For instance, very recently, the GT 8 Pro leaked via live images. It revealed an off-centre circular camera deco with a noticeable periscope camera bump.

This does make sense now since the 200 MP module stands officially confirmed. As for the previous Realme GT 8 Pro camera leak, the device could bring a 50 MP main and a 50 MP ultrawide camera.
Other than that, expect to see the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 powering the device. It could feature 100W fast-charging support. It is also expected to boast an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner, stereo speakers, an IP68 + IP69 rating and improved haptics.
That said, Realme is yet to announce the exact launch date of the GT 8 series. However, we expect that confirmation to arrive in the coming days.
