The Redmi K90 Ultra has officially launched in China as a more affordable alternative to the flagship Redmi K90 Max. Despite its lower price, the phone retains many of its sibling's highlight features, including an active cooling fan and a large battery.

Redmi K90 Ultra Specifications and Features

Before diving into the internals of the Redmi K90 Ultra, the design of the smartphone makes it a major talking point. It builds on the design of the previously launched Redmi K90 Max, with its edge-to-edge camera deco and a physical active cooling fan.

Redmi is calling this the Vortex Airflow Design, which can lower the phone's temperature by up to 10°C in under 100 seconds. The brand also claims that the cooling fan produces just 32 dB of noise even at max speeds. It is further aided by the aerospace-grade aluminium alloy mid-frame for even heat dissipation.

Flipping over to the front, users are greeted with a 6.83-inch 1.5K 12-bit LTPS OLED display featuring a 165 Hz refresh rate and 3,500 nits of peak brightness. The panel also brings Eye Protection Mode 3.0 support, full-brightness DC Dimming and 1 nit of low brightness.

For performance, the Redmi K90 Ultra relies on the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, paired with up to 16 GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 512 GB of UFS 4.1 storage. Out of the box, the phone runs on Android 16-based HyperOS 3 update right out of the box.

Furthermore, the smartphone ships with a massive 8,550mAh battery capacity and supports 100W fast USB-C, 22.5W reverse wired and bypass charging protocols. Sadly, it misses out on wireless charging.

Moving to the cameras, the Redmi K90 Ultra is fitted with dual rear cameras, featuring a 50 MP Light Hunter 800 main camera and an 8 MP OV08F ultra-wide-angle lens. The selfie camera is a 20 MP shooter capable of recording 1080p @ 30 FPS videos.

Aside from that, the phone gets an official IP66 + IP68 + IP69 + IP69K dust and water resistance rating, ultrasonic fingerprint scanner, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, GPS, NFC, dual 5G SIM support and a USB-C 3.2 Gen 1 port.

Lastly, the Redmi K90 Ultra is priced at 2,999 Chinese yuan (approximately Rs 42,000) for the 12 GB RAM and 256 GB storage variant. The phone is also available in three other variants, with the top-of-the-line 16 GB + 512 GB model costing 3,699 Chinese yuan (approximately Rs 52,000).

The phone is currently up for pre-order in China and comes in Space Silver, Shadow Black and Sky Blue colourways.
