Xiaomi has officially launched the Redmi Note 17 and Redmi Note 17 Pro in China, skipping the Note 16 moniker entirely to keep numbering in line with the flagship Xiaomi 17 series. The new phones focus on longer battery life, tougher builds and a refreshed design.
Redmi Note 17 Pro Specifications and Features
The Redmi Note 17 Pro is the standout of the two phones, built around a massive 9,000mAh battery, which is the largest ever fitted to a Redmi Note phone. There's also 67W fast wired charging and 22.5W reverse wired charging to make use of.
Xiaomi is also bundling in a five-year battery health programme, as per which, if capacity drops below 80% within the first four years, buyers get a free replacement. Meanwhile, if it dips below that threshold in year five, the replacement bumps up to an even larger 10,000mAh cell.

As a result of the monstrous battery capacity, the phone measures 8.46mm in thickness and weighs about 226 grams. Durability is another major focus here. The Redmi Note 17 Pro is protected by Gorilla Glass Victus 2 and is rated to survive drops of up to 3 metres onto marble surfaces. It also carries IP66, IP68, IP69 and IP69K ratings for dust and water resistance.
The phone features a 6.83-inch 1.5K flat AMOLED display with a 144 Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 3,500 nits. It also gets the brand's proprietary Green Mountain Eye Protection tech, letting brightness dip as low as 1 nit in dark environments.
Under the hood, the phone runs on the Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 chipset, paired with up to 12 GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 512 GB of UFS 3.1 storage. On the software front, the phone runs on Android 16-based HyperOS 3.
Talking about cameras, it features a 50 MP main sensor with a 2 MP depth sensor, along with an 8 MP front camera. Connectivity includes 5G, Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.1, NFC and an in-display fingerprint sensor. The phone comes in Sky Blue, Nebula Purple, Black, and White colourways.
Redmi Note 17 Specifications and Features
The standard Redmi Note 17 introduces Xiaomi's first 7-inch OLED display on a Redmi Note phone, with a 2396 × 1080-pixel resolution, a 120 Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 1,800 nits. The panel also covers the DCI-P3 colour gamut with a 2160Hz touch sampling rate and sports a "glove mode" for cold-weather use.
Powering the phone is the Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 chipset, paired with up to 8 GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 256 GB of UFS 2.2 storage.

On the software side, Redmi is also pushing an AI-powered anti-fraud system on the Note 17, designed to detect scripted scam calls and AI-generated deepfake video calls in real time, along with remote-assistance tools aimed at elderly users.
Battery duty falls to an 8,000mAh cell, rated to retain at least 80% capacity after 1,600 charge cycles, with 45W wired charging and 22.5W reverse wired charging. Due to the smaller battery capacity, the phone is thinner at 8.26mm and lighter at 225 grams.
The camera setup is simpler than the Pro, with a single 50 MP main camera and an 8 MP front camera. The phone carries an IP65 rating and arrives in Black, Light Aquamarine, and Meteor Purple colourways.
