Notes

We benchmarked the Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 on the Moto G57 Power.

Qualcomm recently unveiled the Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 processor for budget Android smartphones. It's successor to the Snapdragon 6s Gen 3 and brings significant upgrades to CPU and GPU performance. So, in this article, we discuss the specifications of Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 and analyze its performance across various benchmarks. On that note, let's begin.

Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 AnTuTu Score

In our first AnTuTu V11 benchmark, the Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 achieved a total of 805,947 points. In the CPU category, the budget chipset got 320,362 points and the Adreno GPU managed to score 115,629 points. Overall, the Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 delivered a decent performance, but falls short of beating the Snapdragon 6 Gen 4, which is a bit disappointing.

Now, to test the 8-core CPU on the Snapdragon 6s Gen 4, we ran the Geekbench 6 CPU benchmark. In this test, the Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 scored 1,013 in single-core tasks and 2,876 in multi-core tasks. Since you get the older 4x Cortex-A78 cores and 4x Cortex-A55 cores with top clock speeds of just 2.4GHz, the CPU performance is par for the course.

83%

Interestingly, in the 15-minute CPU Throttling Test, the Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 withheld its performance quite well. Despite being fabricated on Samsung's node, the Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 inside the Moto G57 Power maintained its peak CPU performance for two straight minutes and then slightly lowered the performance to 83% for the entire test duration. It means that under heavy CPU stress, the processor manages to balance the thermal stability.

Next, to test the graphics performance, we ran the 3DMark Wild Life Extreme Stress test on the Snapdragon 6s Gen 4. In this demanding benchmark, the chipset got the best loop score of 781 points and the lowest score of 775, with an amazing stability of 99.2%. While the GPU performance is not great, it's indeed stable even under heavy stress.

Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 Speedometer 3.0 Score

Finally, in the Speedometer 3.0 benchmark which evaluates the processor on web tasks and browser responsiveness, the Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 received 7.43 points. Given the older CPU cores, the web performance is decent at best. You may see slight hiccups during heavy web browsing.

Verdict

To conclude, the Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 is indeed more powerful than the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3, as claimed by Qualcomm, but it doesn't beat the Snapdragon 6 Gen 4. The processor in itself isn't bad, and delivers stable performance across the CPU and GPU. To sum up, if you are considering buying a phone under Rs. 15,000, you can go with this chipset, but don't expect high-end performance.
