Samsung has detailed its financial results for the third quarter of 2026. While the brand's combined operations registered an overall 8% sales bump, the segment's operating profit has dropped 2%. The brand's earnings call reveals a lot more, including Galaxy S27-related information.
Samsung to Make Another TriFold and Ship Fewer Phones
Samsung's latest presentation about the earnings call suggests the brand is researching "Glass" and "TriFold" form factors for 2027. The brand is also expected to lean on smart glasses and wearable form factors like headphones.

Behind the scenes, the Exynos 2700 chipset is on track with boosted gaming and AI capabilities, new 200 MP camera sensors are entering mass production, and Samsung Display is engineering stronger foldable panels with significantly less-visible creases.

Mobile Division Losses and Galaxy S27 Series
Samsung Zeroed in on smartphones, as the MX division accounted for 37.3 trillion KRW in total sales. The revenue growth is allegedly the result of Samsung's new flagship releases like the Galaxy Z Fold 8.
However, the mobile sector posted its second consecutive quarterly operating loss due to surging raw material and memory costs. To soften the blow, Samsung minimised its earnings decline by leaning heavily into premium products, strict cost management, and overall operational efficiency.

As a result, Samsung's MX division plans to improve its flagship product mix with differentiated experiences by "enhancing hardware desirability through true form factor innovation". This could be Samsung indirectly acknowledging the Galaxy S27 Pro, a new form factor that sits below the Ultra and above the Plus variant.
We're already aware that Samsung plans to ship fewer phones toward the end of this year. However, the call confirms that it plans to give the Galaxy S27 series a unique identity to target specific consumer needs.
It seems that, like the majority of the market, Samsung is preparing to navigate market headwinds and already has a plan set in stone. Industry analysts predict memory costs will rise further, and 2027 could be an extremely tough phase for manufacturers across the industry.
With the Galaxy S27 series rumour mill spinning at its fastest pace, the smartphones are expected to launch in early Q1 2027, alongside a slew of other products. Until then, stay tuned.
