It's been exactly two years since Samsung added the Galaxy Ring to its wearable portfolio, so it's certainly due for an upgrade. While we heard rumours about Samsung launching its successor back in 2025, it didn't surface online again. Well, it's finally back in the rumour mill, with new information suggesting that the Samsung Galaxy Ring 2 launch could be delayed to 2027.

Samsung Galaxy Ring 2 Launch Delayed Due to Lack of Interest

According to ETNews and many previous reports, Samsung was originally scheduled to launch the Galaxy Ring 2 at the second Galaxy Unpacked. The next Galaxy Unpacked event is likely to be held in July or August 2026, when Samsung is expected to unveil its next-gen foldable smartphones. However, the brand has now reportedly decided to push it back to 2027. Industry sources claim the delay is due to the current lack of hype around smart rings in general.

Besides, insiders also state that the brand is prioritising other "big launches", likely referring to a new foldable form factor, the Z Fold Wide, and overall marketing strategies.

Strategically, one of the issues that plagued Galaxy Ring users was the subpar battery life. While the health features were solid, the Ring refused to last for more than five days on a single charge. For the Galaxy Ring 2, Samsung could make major hardware changes.

They may include a thinner and lighter design, and a slightly larger battery, making it last for at least 10 days on a single charge. Besides, the latest report also mentions that the Ring could also bring upgrades in Health tracking with Body Temperature sensors and more accurate sleep tracking.

There are also rumours about the ring featuring a tool to measure blood sugar levels, but experts suggest it won't be ready anytime soon due to the immense testing needed and the lack of government approval.

Moving forward, Samsung wants to combine its AI and Health apps into one big health platform. Therefore, the strategy seems to be that the Galaxy Watch will handle workout apps and phone notifications, while the Ring will purely focus on gathering your sleep and daily health data in the background.

More information about the Samsung Galaxy Ring 2 should be revealed as we inch closer to an early 2027 launch. Right now, it's likely to launch with the Galaxy S27 series in February 2027. Until then, stay tuned.
