A new Galaxy S27 Ultra dummy unit offers a closer look at its redesigned camera module, dimensions and overall build. It also shows how it compares with the Galaxy S26 Ultra, iPhone 18 Pro and Pixel 11 Pro.
Galaxy S27 Ultra Dummy Unit Gives Best Look at Redesigned Camera Module
Android Headlines has gone hands-on with a Galaxy S27 Ultra dummy unit, made using CAD files that leaked back in August 2026. The publication compared the dummy with the Galaxy S26 Ultra, iPhone 18 Pro and Pixel 11 Pro.
Starting with the biggest change, the Galaxy S27 Ultra drops the S26 Ultra’s vertical camera layout. Instead, it gets a new horizontal camera bar with a raised bump on top, so the camera module has two layers.

The S26 Ultra’s camera bump, on the other hand, extends much further down the back. When it comes to size, the S27 Ultra is just marginally bigger than the S26 Ultra. The dummy unit has 163.76 x 78.25 x 7.97 mm dimensions, compared to the 163.6 x 78.1 x 7.9 mm build of the Galaxy S26 Ultra.
Even though the difference in size is tiny, the new camera layout means that Galaxy S26 Ultra cases won’t fit the Galaxy S27 Ultra.
Up front, the dummy shows a 6.9-inch flat display with a centred hole-punch selfie camera. The S Pen is here to stay too, with its slot on the bottom left, next to the speaker, USB-C port and SIM tray. The power button sits below the volume buttons on the right side.

Moving on, the new camera bar makes the S27 Ultra look quite different from its rivals. Next to the iPhone 18 Pro, the S27 Ultra’s camera bar is larger than the iPhone’s camera bar. The Pixel 11 Pro also has a horizontal camera bar. However, its lenses sit flush inside a slightly thicker bar, so it doesn’t wobble on a table.
As for the cameras, the Galaxy S27 Ultra is rumoured to come with a 200 MP main camera, a 50 MP ultrawide and a 50 MP 5x telephoto lens. Samsung is reportedly dropping the 3x telephoto camera.

There’s no word on built-in magnets yet. Moreover, the S27 Ultra and the Galaxy S27 Pro are tipped to get an improved Privacy Display with brighter screens.
Samsung is expected to unveil the Galaxy S27 series at its Unpacked event in January or February 2027. Android Headlines guesses the week of February 22, just before MWC 2027 kicks off on March 1, 2027.
Also, keep in mind that this is just a dummy, so it has no display, battery or internals, and its weight isn’t accurate. However, it gives us a good look at the size and design of Samsung’s next flagship. It also falls in line with previous leaks that suggested that the Galaxy S27 Ultra design change would be pretty significant.
