The display crease has been the one persistent complaint holding back Samsung's foldables, even as the company improved cameras and battery life generation after generation. According to a new leak, that might finally change with the Galaxy Z Fold 8 series.
Galaxy Z Fold 8 Creaseless Display Details Tipped
Tipster Ice Universe claims Samsung has redesigned the hinge mechanism for both the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra. The case on both foldables is said to reach "top-level" performance that matches the Oppo Find N6, widely regarded as having one of the least visible creases in the foldable space. Moreover, it reportedly "far exceeds" what the Galaxy Z Fold 7 offered.

This lines up with previous reports, which suggested that the Galaxy Z Fold 8 could feature a creaseless display like the Find N6. This can reportedly be achieved by using Samsung's dual ultra-thin glass that could cut crease visibility by 20% compared to the Galaxy Z Fold 7. However, the latest leak also suggests that this creaseless display tech comes with a trade-off.
The redesigned hinge on the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 series reportedly makes opening and closing the foldables feel more deliberate. They will either snap fully open or shut rather than gently swing through the motion. The catch is that, due to this, the foldables could no longer stay propped open at intermediate angles as easily as earlier models could.
If accurate, this could affect Samsung's Flex Mode, a feature that lets the phone stand upright at a partial fold for hands-free use in apps like the camera or video calls.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Series Specifications (Leaked)
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 is rumoured to feature a wider 7.6-inch foldable display, a dual rear camera setup with 50 MP primary and ultrawide sensors and a 4,800mAh battery.
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, on the other hand, is expected to get a taller, roughly 8-inch panel. Moreover, it could sport a triple rear camera setup driven by a 200 MP primary sensor with OIS, a 50 MP ultrawide and a 10 MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom. The Ultra foldable could also pack a larger 5,000mAh battery.

Both phones are tipped to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy chipset and support 45W fast wired charging.
Apart from this, recently, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 series storage and colour options leaked. Going by that, we know that both foldables could be offered in 256 GB, 512 GB and 1 TB storage options. Additionally, the regular Galaxy Z Fold 8 could come in Cream, Graphite, Lavender and Pistachio colour options. Meanwhile, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra could arrive in Cream, Graphite, Green Shadow and Violet Shadow colourways.
Apart from this, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 official-looking cases surfaced online not too long ago, which don't showcase any major design changes.
From what we've gotten to know so far, it appears that there will not be a separate Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide, with the regular model adopting a wide form factor. Meanwhile, the Ultra model will be a direct successor to the Galaxy Z Fold 7.
Samsung's next Unpacked event is expected in the coming weeks, so we won't have to wait long to see whether the crease improvements hold up in person. Alongside, the Galaxy Z Flip 8 is also expected to go official. As always, it's worth treating leaked claims like this with some caution until Samsung confirms them.
