In today's episode of "Nothing in tech surprises us anymore", the Galaxy S27 series is tipped for a major price hike. With the RAM crisis showing no signs of slowing down, the Galaxy S27 series could be the most expensive S series Samsung has ever released.
According to Korean industry insider yeux1122, Samsung is planning noticeable price bumps across the entire S27 portfolio, affecting all models and storage capacities. Retail prices in Korea are expected to increase by 130,000 Korean won (roughly Rs 10,000).
Adding further weight to the rumours is Samsung's recent move to increase Galaxy S26 series prices in India by up to a whopping Rs 25,000. Another reason for the price increase could be the rumours that Samsung intends to equip the Galaxy S27 Pro and Galaxy S27 Ultra models with the latest UFS 5.1 storage and LPDDR6 RAM.
While it may seem like a pretty negligible price increase for including the latest RAM and memory type, it's worth noting that South Korea, Samsung's home turf and the phones are therefore excluded from all the extra charges and taxes.
The international pricing will fluctuate based on regional taxes and currency strength. In the end, the actual price jump in international markets may turn out to be significant. Adding to this price jump could be the use of the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 processor, which is said to be more expensive than last year's.
Since the Galaxy S27 Ultra could use the same, it could receive the biggest price hike. The Galaxy S27 Pro, Galaxy S27+ and Galaxy S27 may use Exynos 2700 chipset and could still receive price hikes, albeit not as much as the Ultra
For those unaware, the Galaxy S26 launched earlier this year and was already a step up from the S25. Therefore, buyers should brace themselves for a base Galaxy S27 that could potentially creep past the Rs 1,20,000 threshold.
