When it comes to uber-luxury smartphones, American brand Vertu has carved a niche for itself. From bedazzled jewels to ultra-rare and premium materials, the brand makes some of the most expensive phones on planet Earth. Now, it has tried its hand at the Vertu AlphaFold, making it the most expensive folding phone to date.
Vertu AlphaFold Can Cost as Much as $46,800 (Approximately Rs 45 Lakhs)
The Vertu AlphaFold comes in three material choices - Bespoke Alligator Skin, Himalayan Alligator Skin and Stitched Calfskin. It comes with a titanium mid-frame and a titanium + carbon fibre hinge, which is rated for up to 6,50,000 folds.

Vertu says each and every part of the AlphaFold is handcrafted and thoughtfully designed to "bring luxury presence to life." The camera plateau is either made of carbon fibre and glass or gold and glass depending on the model. The brand is using Himalaya Gold IV and hand-cut diamonds for the Vertu AlphaFold Signature Gold & Diamond Edition.
It starts from $6,880 (approximately Rs 6,62,000) for the Standard Edition and goes all the way up to $46,800 (approximately Rs 45 lakhs) for the Gold & Diamond Edition. It is clear that Vertu is charging for materials and craftsmanship, and not for the phone's specs.

This is because underneath, the AlphaFold is just a regular folding phone from 2025. It comes with the previous generation Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, an 8.05-inch foldable 120 Hz OLED display, a 6.53, inch outer screen, 50 MP main camera and a 6,500mAh battery with 68W fast USB-C charging.
As for the rest, the folding phone also comes with a new Hermes AI agent, which Vertu claims can remember the user's personal preferences and manage tasks like calendar activities, sending messages, planning travel and business-related tasks. It is sort of positioned as a personal concierge service.

The Hermes AI agent can also perform actions like controlling and navigating the UI, execute cross-app workflow and more. It is also said to work with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software. All of this, is based on Android 15.
Vertu is also offering a human concierge service which can help users book private jets or secure VIP access to exclusive events. It is clear that the Vertu AlphaFold is targeted for ultra-rich people and is designed to cater to their needs.
