Update (September 19, 2025, 4:00 PM IST): The OriginOS landing page on the Vivo India website has been taken down.
Vivo's India user base has been endlessly yearning for OriginOS's arrival. Well, while rumours do suggest Vivo may chuck Funtouch OS in the bin for OriginOS 6, we're yet to get an official confirmation. A "proof" of the OriginOS 6 release in India has surfaced, but it appears to be outdated and lacks credibility.
The tech community on X has erupted over a new discovery from tipster Abhishek Yadav, which "confirms" OriginOS 6's release in India. The evidence? A "vivo.com/in/originos" page supposedly "just appeared." Well, sorry to break it to you, Vivo fans, but it means nothing (no pun intended).

As per our findings at Beebom Gadgets, it turns out that this "new" URL has been quietly sitting online since at least March 2024. For the past six months, clicking on it has shown the very same Funtouch OS page it shows today. Besides, it's not like the official Funtouch OS landing page on the Vivo India website doesn't exist anymore, as it's still very much alive and kicking.
So, ultimately, the OriginOS 6 release based on the website alone is not breaking news, but just a detail that's been hiding in plain sight for some time now. Besides, while Vivo has already announced OriginOS 6's release date in China, its launch in India remains unconfirmed.

Now, this doesn't mean the dream of OriginOS in India is dead. Present rumours do suggest Vivo plans to bring it to India eventually. However, it's worth weighing in on the fact that these are still "rumours", and like today's information, you should take all leaks and discoveries with a grain of salt.
As a result, we'd advise our readers not to treat any of this as confirmation, since it's just old information that's been dug up from the past. Summing up, while the hope for OriginOS is very much alive, we should wait for evidence that isn't already six months old. And for that, we'd need to hear from Vivo first.
With that in mind, we've crafted a list of Funtouch OS 16-supported devices, just in case. Stay tuned as we'll update you with more accurate information the moment Vivo makes an official announcement.
