WhatsApp is testing out a new feature that will let users personalise their chats with AI-generated wallpapers. This new feature uses Meta AI to generate such wallpapers and can be applied to all chats as well as individual conversations.
Spotted first by WABetaInfo last month, the feature is now rolling out for beta testers on the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.25.19.11 build. However, the feature is gradually rolling out and might not be available to every beta tester yet. We haven't gotten the feature either, at the time of writing.

However, if you do take a look at the above screenshots, it seems like the new feature will appear in Settings -> Chats -> Default chat theme. Here, a new "Create with AI" option should appear. Tapping on this opens the AI wallpaper generation interface. Here, users will be greeted with AI-suggested wallpapers which will be automatically generated.
Now, if these suggestions don't match a user's taste, they can simply enter a text prompt and create their own AI wallpapers. Besides, users can also further personalise their generations and "Make changes" to them by further tweaking their prompts to customise the themes or colours.
Moreover, it's not just chats that users can apply these custom AI wallpapers too, as it can be done on their favourite Channel updates as well.
WhatsApp seems to be focusing on utilising its Meta AI as much as possible, as we also got to know recently that a new Writing Tool feature is also in development.
Now, with AI-generated wallpapers, WhatsApp users get a great creative alternative to static wallpapers. From sunset beaches to abstract designs and beyond, this feature should really help elevate chat aesthetics.
However, nothing is known about its public release, although one can expect it to release anytime soon. Besides, as history is proof, iOS users will most likely not miss out on this either.
