WhatsApp is rolling out a fresh set of features to make everyday chat management simpler, while also upgrading the AI-powered WhatsApp Writing Help tool, which was first introduced in August 2025. The latest WhatsApp update focuses on bringing cleaner storage controls, seamless account switching and smarter AI-powered interactions inside chats.
WhatsApp gets an updated Writing Help tool and Meta AI-powered photo tuning
At the centre of this update is what might one of the most practical upgrades to the WhatsApp Writing Help tool. The Writing Help feature initially focused on rewriting and refining messages, but now gets a step further by generating full, context-aware replies based on your conversations.
Alongside this, Meta is also expanding its AI toolkit within WhatsApp with AI-powered photo editing, which lets users edit images directly within chats before sending them. From removing distracting elements and swapping backgrounds to applying creative styles, the tool can do it all. Combined with smart suggestions, these additions sure do aim to make the platform more user-friendly than ever before.

Additionally, Meta is bringing a more refined approach to managing clutter, as WhatsApp now lets users free up storage within individual chats. This can be done by identifying and deleting large files directly, without wiping entire conversations.
Users can also choose to remove only media like photos and videos while keeping the text history intact, something that addresses one of the platform's most common pain points.
Meta is also expanding multi-account support to iOS, allowing users to run two WhatsApp accounts on a single device. This brings iPhones in line with Android, making it easier to separate personal and work conversations without needing multiple devices. A visible profile indicator helps users quickly identify which account they're currently using.
Another major highlight is improved cross-platform chat transfer, which now lets users move their chat history from iOS to Android with just a few taps. This includes messages, photos and videos, significantly reducing friction when switching ecosystems.

The latest WhatsApp updates make Meta AI a core part of how users communicate on the platform. Also note that features are "rolling out now and will be available to everyone soon."
