Last month, X launched a standalone XChat app on iOS, pitched as a better WhatsApp alternative. Since then, it has remained restricted to only iPhone users. The company has now officially teased the app's arrival on Android and opened pre-registration ahead of rollout.
XChat App for Android Confirmed
The official XChat X account has confirmed that the app will launch for Android users soon. Users can currently pre-register for the app via the Google Play Store. The key selling point of the new messaging platform is privacy.

XChat is designed to support full end-to-end encryption, with zero user tracking, no ads and a host of different privacy tools to take care of user data, like protected PIN, screenshot blocking and more. It is part of the X ecosystem and users will simply need to log in via their existing X account to use XChat.
It is important to note that the ability to chat is already integrated within the X app. It could get removed once the standalone app is rolled out widely. Alongside privacy features, the XChat app also brings the ability to edit or delete sent messages and enable audio and video calls across devices. Additionally, users can also create group chats with up to 481 members, with the ability to share large audio, video and other files.
That said, it is unclear as to when the XChat Android app will roll out. However, we expect it to happen in the next couple of weeks, so stay tuned.
