Back in September 2025, the Xiaomi 17 launched in China and now, the phone is all set to make its way to the Indian markets. However, it seems like its more premium siblings will probably make it late to the party.
Xiaomi 17 clears BIS certification
Reliable tipster Sudhanshu Ambhore took to X to reveal that the Indian variant of the Xiaomi 17 has now bagged the BIS (Bureau of Indian Standards) certification with the model number 25113PNOEI.

For those unaware, BIS is the final piece of the puzzle, which ultimately suggests that a phone is finally ready to launch in India. Going by that, we can expect the phone to launch sometime in Q1 2026, preferably in January.
However, the tipster notes that the more premium Xiaomi 17 Pro and Xiaomi 17 Ultra have not cleared the certification yet. So, they could launch later on in the subcontinent. With all that out of the way, let's take a look at the Xiaomi 17 key specs.
Xiaomi 17 Specifications
Since the phone already launched in China, we know its specifications. For starters, the Xiaomi 17 features a 6.36-inch 1.5K M10 LTPO 12-bit OLED display, backed by Dolby Vision support and 3,500 nits of peak brightness. This panel is also protected by Xiaomi Dragon Crystal Glass.
The Xiaomi 17 also uses LIPO (Low-Injection Pressure Over-molding) technology to shrink the bezels to 1.18mm. As for the phone's thickness, it comes to around 8.06mm, while weighing 191 grams. There are also dual stereo speakers to make use of.

Under the hood, the Xiaomi 17 is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, paired with up to 16 GB of LPDDR5x RAM and 512 GB of UFS 4.1 storage. Meanwhile, for better thermal management, the phone uses a Stereoscopic Annular Cold Pump Cooling System.
In terms of cameras, the compact Xiaomi flagship features a 50 MP Light Fusion 950 main sensor, a 50 MP 102° Leica ultra-wide-angle lens and a 50 MP 2.6x Infinity Leica telephoto camera. At the front, there's another 50 MP shooter.
Powering it all is a massive 7,000mAh battery with 100W fast wired charging and 50W wireless charging. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, GPS, NFC and dual SIM 5G support. The Xiaomi 17 sports an IP68 rating as well and uses an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor for security.
However, there are chances that Xiaomi could switch things up with the Indian variant with slightly different specifications. So, while this gives us a good idea of what to expect from the Xiaomi 17, it's not exactly concrete. We'd recommend waiting for the brand to confirm the details as and when they do.
