Back in September 2025, Xiaomi made the Xiaomi 15T and Xiaomi 15T official in China. Both phones arrived right on time, as the case has been for the past six years. Now, in 2026, the Chinese smartphone brand is shuffling things up with a preponed launch, set for as soon as Q2 2026 for the Xiaomi 17T series.
Xiaomi 17T and Xiaomi 17T Pro launching sooner than expected
As per Weibo tipster Experience more, Xiaomi has internally preponed the development of Xiaomi 17T (2602DPT53G, P12A) and Xiaomi 17T Pro (2602EPTC0G, P12U) by almost four months. This puts a tentative May 2026 launch timeline for the upcoming "T" series phones. If true, this will be the first time in six years Xiaomi has broken its launch streak. The phones are internally known as "chagall" and "warhol," respectively.

As for why this is the case, there is no clarity regarding that. However, the rising RAM prices could be a strong reason for this change in strategy. An early launch will help the upcoming Xiaomi phones to adjust to price hikes and also gauge the market before launching the flagship Xiaomi 18 lineup.
Specs-wise, the tipster claims that the major improvement with the Xiaomi 17T series will be in performance. The standard Xiaomi 17T is expected to sport the Dimensity 8500 processor, while the 17T Pro will reportedly feature the Dimensity 9500 chipset.
Aside from that, not much is known about the smartphones currently. Given the Xiaomi 15T and Xiaomi 15T Pro specs, we can expect the Xiaomi 17T series to bring the following specs:
- 6.83-inch 1.5K 144 Hz 12-bit AMOLED display
- Leica Summilux cameras with triple 50 MP setup
- 6,000mAh battery with 90W fast USB-C charging
- HyperOS 3 based on Android 16
That said, at the time of writing, none of the above-mentioned specs are official. So, take them with a grain of salt. With only three more months to go, expect official teasers for the Xiaomi 17T series to drop soon. Before that, the Xiaomi 17 series global launch is happening next week. So, stay tuned for that.
