It's been a while since Xiaomi launched a tablet and the Xiaomi Pad 7 was the last we saw from the brand in early 2025. Well, that could soon change as the brand has started teasing the India launch of what seems like its successor, the Xiaomi Pad 8.
Xiaomi Pad 8 India launch imminent?
Xiaomi India's official X handle posted a teaser video of one of its upcoming devices. The post mentions the hashtag "Future of Computing" with the caption "We've redefined the tablet category, but we're not stopping there".
Additionally, the video showcases a silhouette of a slim, flat-framed device docked into a keyboard, further teasing what we believe to be the Xiaomi Pad 8. Adding fuel to the fire, Xiaomi India's marketing leadership recently shared a cryptic series of emojis featuring a TV, a smartphone and a tablet.
We already know that Xiaomi is launching a new QLED TV X Pro TV and the Xiaomi 17 series global launch has also been confirmed. This leaves us with the tablet, which could be the only missing piece of the puzzle.
If this is indeed the Xiaomi Pad 8 that launched in China back in September 2025, the specifications include an 11.2-inch 3.2K LCD panel with a 144 Hz refresh rate. It's a 3:2 display that maxes out at 800 nits of peak brightness with a 360 Hz touch sampling rate.
Under the hood, it will likely be powered by the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 and a massive 9,200mAh battery that can charge at 67W while also featuring reverse wired charging of up to 22.5W.
Accompanying the processor could be up to 16 GB LPDDR5T RAM and 512 GB UFS 4.1 storage. The Chinese variant runs HypeOS 3.0 features out of the box, and the Indian variant is also expected to launch with the same. It could also be one of the HyperOS 4 supported devices upon launch.
Connectivity-wise, the tablet could arrive with Bluetooth 5.4, Wi-Fi 7, Miracast, and a USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-C port for display output. More details about the tablet should be revealed as we inch closer to launch.
We expect Xiaomi to unveil the Pad 8 in India during the Xiaomi 17 series launch. With Xiaomi 17 series global launch date set for February 28, 2026, we expect the smartphones and the tablet to arrive by March 2026, so stay tuned.
