Earlier this week, we learned that Xiaomi is bringing its Mijia sub-brand to India. According to new information, the sub-brand may start its journey in the country with air purifiers.
Reliable tipster Abhishek Yadav posted on X that Air Purifiers could be one of the first products from Mijia in India. For those unaware, Mijia is Xiaomi's dedicated umbrella for smart home appliances and IoT lifestyle products.

While Xiaomi has sold air purifiers, robot vacuums and security cameras in India for years under its primary brand name, the transition to Mijia could mean the brand is restructuring its approach to its home appliance business in India. The brand may diversify the same to show that it's taking the business a bit seriously.
While the leak doesn't state the exact model name of the Mijia Air Purifier or its specifications, more information about the same should be revealed very soon. Xiaomi already sells its Smart Air Purifier 4 series in India, so the incoming model will presumably be different from the same.
The move to diversify into the smart home business arrives amidst the ongoing RAM crisis. Given that the Indian smartphone industry is in steady decline due to a massive increase in smartphone prices, the Mijia sub-brand could help the brand remain afloat while strengthening its smart home business in the country.
Xiaomi also sells everything from washing machines to projectors, Robot Vacuums, TVS, Security Cameras and Air Conditioners in its lineup. While the arrival of most of these products is uncertain as of now, more information about the other upcoming products should be revealed soon, so stay tuned.
