The Oppo Find X9s is a well-rounded compact flagship killer in a post-RAM crisis world. Its bright AMOLED panel, premium build quality, excellent cameras and super reliable performance strengthen the package big time. However, the lack of wireless charging and the presence of preloaded apps, alongside the existence of the standard Find X9 for just Rs 5,000 more, slightly weaken the Find X9s' value proposition.

Pros

  • Excellent cameras
  • Great overall performance
  • Outstanding battery life and fast charging
  • Clean, comfortable design
  • Bright and vibrant AMOLED screen
  • Smooth and feature-rich OS experience

Cons

  • No wireless charging
  • Some pre-installed apps

Just last year, the Oppo Find X9 and Find X9 Pro launched in India. Fast forward to 2026, and the smartphone market looks very different. The ongoing RAM crisis has pushed prices higher across the board. As a result, the new Find X9s, which sits below the Find X9, actually costs more than what the Find X9 did at launch. That naturally raises an important question of whether the phone justifies its asking price. After spending two weeks with it as my daily driver, here's what I found in this detailed Oppo Find X9s review.

Unboxing

I have with me the Sunset Orange colourway of the Oppo Find X9s, and it's got a very clean, understated design that feels more refined the longer you use it. The in-hand feel is splendid here, and despite packing a large battery, the Find X9s does not come across as bulky or tiring to use over long periods.

The weight distribution is well-balanced, and the curved edges help the phone sit comfortably in the hand during one-handed use. The matte finish on the rear panel also deserves a mention because it does a good job resisting fingerprints and smudges. After a few days of use without a case, the phone still looked relatively clean without constantly needing a wipe-down, which is something glossy-backed phones continue to struggle with.

The aerospace-grade aluminium frame feels sturdy, the buttons are tactile, and the overall fit and finish are exactly what you would expect at this price point. I also appreciated some of the subtler practical touches Oppo has included here.

For starters, the Oppo Find X9s comes with solid durability, thanks to IP66 + IP68 + IP69 ratings, which adds a piece of mind for clumsy users like me. Then there's also the "Super Swipe" feature, which proved useful during my test, and the display remained responsive even with super wet fingers.

Display and Audio Quality

  • 6.59-inch Full-HD+ (2760 x 1256 pixels) 120 Hz LTPS AMOLED display
  • 1,800 nits HBM, 800 nits typical brightness (as claimed by the brand)
  • Gorilla Glass 7i protection

After having used phones with massive displays, my hands thank the stars when a more compact phone embraces them. That was the case with the Oppo Find X9s's 6.59-inch AMOLED display, which strikes the perfect balance in size and usability. It also brings an excellent balance between sharpness and colour

Whether I was binge-watching HDR content on Netflix, doomscrolling late into the night or editing photos outdoors under harsh sunlight, the panel rarely disappointed. Colours look punchy without crossing over into oversaturated territory, blacks are deep as expected, and the viewing angles are excellent enough for the display to retain its vibrancy even when viewed off-axis.

What impressed me more in day-to-day usage was the brightness tuning. The screen gets comfortably bright outdoors, and our Luxmeter recorded a peak of around 2,060 nits, making maps, messages and camera previews easy to read even under direct sunlight.

Oppo's calibration also leans toward a slightly balanced, less aggressively saturated look, which actually makes prolonged viewing easier on the eyes.

Audio performance is solid as well, and the stereo speaker setup is sufficiently loud for watching YouTube videos, casual gaming and listening to podcasts without reaching for earbuds. Vocals come through cleanly, dialogue remains easy to understand and the overall tuning feels reasonably balanced. There is decent stereo separation as well, which helps make movies and games feel immersive.

Performance Tested

  • Dimensity 9500s processor
  • Up to 12 GB LPDDR5X RAM and 512 GB UFS 4.1 storage

The Oppo Find X9s uses the same Dimensity 9500s processor that the Poco X8 Pro Max is powered by, and it's an absolute powerhouse. During my time with the phone, the experience remained consistently fast and stable across everyday tasks, whether it was juggling multiple apps, editing photos, using navigation in the background, or switching between social media, messaging and the camera app throughout the day.

Animations feel smooth, app launches are quick and ColorOS itself is excellently optimised (more on this in a bit). Those benchmark numbers look rather tasty as well:

Gaming performance is equally dependable. Titles like BGMI, Call of Duty Mobile, Genshin Impact and Wuthering Waves all ran comfortably at the highest settings with stable frame rates. Here's a quick rundown of it:

Software and Updates

  • ColorOS 16
  • 5 years of OS updates + 6 years of security patches

The Oppo Find X9s ships with ColorOS 16 based on Android 16, and after spending some time with it, as expected, I came away with largely positive impressions. Oppo has spent the past few years refining its software experience, and it shows. The interface feels polished, animations are smooth and the overall design strikes a good balance between visual flair and usability

Right out of the box, the Oppo Find X9s also gets all those ColorOS 16.1 features, like the new Live Space and AirDrop support within Quick Share. There are also a bunch of AI features like AI Mind Pilot, AI Recompose and Live Transcription to make use of.

There are still a few pre-installed apps that I would rather not see on a premium phone, like Snapchat, LinkedIn, Facebook and Agoda. However, they can be uninstalled easily, and once the initial setup process is complete, the software feels fairly clean and uncluttered.

Oppo promises five years of major Android OS upgrades along with six years of security updates for the Find X9s, which is great. Overall, ColorOS 16 may not be the cleanest Android skin available today, but it's a fast, feature-rich and premium software experience, which the Oppo Find X9s certainly benefits from.

Cameras Reviewed

  • 50 MP Sony LYT-700 main rear camera, 50 MP Sony LYT-600 3x periscope telephoto camera, 50 MP Samsung JN5 ultra-wide lens
  • 32 MP Sony IMX-615 selfie shooter
  • Up to 4K @ 60 FPS videos through both the rear and front cameras

The camera system is arguably the Oppo Find X9s' biggest selling point. While most flagship phones today are capable of capturing good photos in favourable conditions, the Find X9s distinguishes itself with consistency, if you ask me. Whether I was shooting landscapes during the day, portraits in mixed lighting or quick point-and-shoot photos while walking around the city, the phone delivered reliable results without requiring much effort.

The primary camera produces images with plenty of detail and a wide dynamic range. Oppo's image processing has become noticeably more restrained over the years, and that works in the Find X9s' favour. Colours look vibrant but rarely exaggerated, while contrast is handled well enough that photos maintain a natural appearance without looking flat. More importantly, exposure tends to be dependable. The camera does a good job balancing bright skies and darker foregrounds without aggressively crushing shadows or blowing out highlights.

The telephoto camera is another highlight and retains solid details and colour science throughout. Oppo's collaboration with Hasselblad continues to influence the overall imaging experience as well, particularly in portrait photography, where skin tones generally look realistic and avoid the overly processed appearance.

Moving on, the ultrawide performs well too, maintaining fairly consistent colours with the primary sensor. That's something I always pay attention to because there's nothing more annoying than switching lenses and ending up with completely different-looking images. Detail levels are understandably lower than the main camera, but the difference isn't dramatic enough to discourage using the ultrawide regularly.

Selfies come out very well, with mostly natural skin tones, and details are retained well upon zooming in. Portraits benefit from pleasing subject separation and organic background blur, while zoomed shots retain a surprising amount of detail even beyond the optical range.

Low-light photography is another area where the Oppo Find X9s performs strongly. The camera captures a good amount of detail without resorting to excessive sharpening, and night shots generally preserve the atmosphere of a scene instead of turning darkness into artificial daylight. There are occasional instances where brighter light sources can be slightly overprocessed, but overall, the results are among the better ones I've seen from a compact flagship.

Video recording is similarly dependable. Footage is sharp, stabilisation works well while walking and exposure transitions are smooth when moving between different lighting conditions. The biggest advantage for content creators here is that the phone can record up to 4K @ 60 FPS videos through both the front and rear cameras.

Battery Life and Charging

  • 7,025mAh battery
  • 80W SuperVOOC fast charging support

Battery life on the Oppo Find X9s is excellent, and in my testing, the phone consistently delivered between 8–10 hours of screen-on time. My usage included a mix of social media, messaging, camera use, video streaming, navigation and occasional gaming. Most days, I ended up with 25-30% battery remaining, making it an easy all-day phone and a comfortable day-and-a-half phone for moderate users.

The combination of a relatively compact display and an efficient chipset clearly helps here, although the lack of an LTPO panel likely prevents the phone from fully capitalising on its enormous battery.

Charging is equally breezy, and the bundled 80 W charger took the Find X9s from 20–100% in roughly 40 minutes during my testing. Meanwhile, a quick 15-minute top-up was enough to recover around 40% battery.

Oppo Find X9s Review Verdict: Should You Buy It?

If you're looking for a compact flagship killer that is exceptionally well-rounded, the Oppo Find X9s qualifies with flying colours. It's very dependable, whether you're capturing photos, gaming, binge-watching content, or simply getting through a busy workday. That doesn't mean it's perfect. There are some preloaded apps, and it misses out on wireless charging, but none of them significantly detract from what is otherwise a solid phone.

Moreover, with the Oppo Find X9 now starting at Rs 84,999, up from its launch price of Rs 74,999, the Find X9s fills that void with its Rs 79,999 price tag. However, by just paying Rs 5,000 more, you are getting a better processor, a slightly better main camera, wireless charging and even longer software update support. So, if you can get your hands on the Find X9, we'd recommend getting that instead. If not, the Find X9s should suffice.
