Summary

  • Call forwarding in Samsung phones lets you redirect incoming calls to another number of your choice.
  • To enable call forwarding in a Samsung phone, go to the Phone app > Settings > Supplementary services > Call forwarding and select Voice call.
  • Depending on your use case, you can choose to redirect incoming calls to a secondary phone number always, when busy, when unanswered and when unreachable.

Call forwarding is quite a useful feature, but users rarely activate it. On Samsung phones, you can easily activate call forwarding and redirect your calls to another phone number you have specified. This feature can be helpful while travelling or when you are out of coverage. So, if you are keen to learn how to activate and deactivate call forwarding in Samsung phones, follow our in-depth guide below.

What is Call Forwarding in Samsung Phones?

Call forwarding is a feature that redirects incoming calls from your Samsung phone to a different phone number. Instead of the call ringing on your device, it gets automatically routed to another number you have specified. While all phones, including Samsung phones, have a call forwarding feature, it's actually processed by your mobile network.

So Jio, Airtel, Vi, or BSNL are responsible for forwarding the call, not your Samsung phone. That said, Samsung provides the interface where you can manage the call forwarding feature. Note that even if your phone is switched off or out of coverage, call forwarding will still work since the redirection is handled by network operators.

Now, call forwarding in Samsung phones can be used across different scenarios:

  • Always Forward: Under this category, every single incoming call gets redirected to the number you have set, no matter if your phone is on, off, or busy. Your Samsung phone will not ring at all when this feature is active.
  • Forward When Busy: This one activates only when you are already busy on another call. If someone tries to call you while you are engaged on another call, the call is forwarded to the assigned number.
  • Forward When Unanswered: If you don't pick up a call, the call gets redirected to the specified number. This is useful if you want a backup number to catch all your missed calls.
  • Forward When Unreachable: This setting is activated when your phone is switched off, in Aeroplane mode or out of network coverage. Your calls get forwarded to the specified number so you don't miss anything even when your Samsung phone is completely offline.
