Samsung Pink Screen Problem: Causes and How to Fix It on Galaxy Phones

A pink screen on your Samsung phone is one of the worrying display issues. The whole UI looks washed out in a pink tint, and you have no idea whether it's a software bug or a faulty AMOLED panel. The good news is that some pink screen issues can be solved by software fixes. So, in this tutorial, we have compiled multiple ways to resolve the pink screen problem on Samsung phones. What Causes Pink Screen Problem on Samsung Phones?

Before we jump into fixes, let's first learn what causes the pink tint in the first place. On Samsung phones, the issue is usually triggered by a corrupted display driver or an aggressive blue light filter. On the hardware side, a damaged AMOLED panel may also show a pink screen or white spot on the screen, in which case you need a screen replacement.

Hardware issues caused by drops can damage the display flex cable that connects the AMOLED panel to the motherboard. A failing panel can also start showing pink horizontal lines or a permanent pink tint on the screen. Note that AMOLED burn-in on older Samsung phones can also produce a faint pink hue.

How to Fix Samsung Pink Screen Problem on Galaxy Phones

That said, we are going to try some software solutions to fix the pink screen problem on Samsung phones.

Switch the Screen Mode from Vivid to Natural

Samsung's Vivid screen mode increases the saturation level aggressively and can sometimes make a panel look pink. Switching to Natural mode resets the colour profile and often fixes the pink screen problem.

1. Open the Settings app on your Samsung phone and move to Display.
2. Here, tap on Screen mode and select Natural instead of Vivid.
3. After that, check if the pink screen issue is solved or not.

Turn Off Eye Comfort Shield

Samsung's Eye Comfort Shield is a blue-light filter that adds a yellow and orange tint to the screen. On certain Samsung panels, the filter can produce a pink overlay. You can turn it off to see if the pink screen problem is resolved or not.

1. Launch the Settings app on your Samsung phone and go to Display.
2. Here, turn off the Eye comfort shield toggle.
3. If you want to keep using it, tap on Eye comfort shield and drag the Colour temperature slider leftwards to reduce it manually.
4. Now, see if the pink wash on the screen has reduced or not.

One point to note: if you are using third-party screen dimming apps like Twilight or Night Owl, uninstall them. These apps draw a tinted overlay on top of the system UI and often cause the pink screen problem.

Run Samsung Diagnostics

Samsung ships an excellent built-in diagnostics tool which can run the display test and tell you whether the pink tint is a software-related or hardware issue. Here is how to do it.

1. Open the Phone app on your Samsung phone and type *#0*# using the keypad.
2. This will automatically open the diagnostic screen.
3. Here, tap on RED, GREEN and BLUE and see if the pink tint appears during these tests.
4. If the pink screen is still appearing, you are looking at a hardware issue.

Update Your Samsung Phone

Samsung pushes display driver fixes through its One UI security patches. If the pink tint started appearing right after a system update, there is a strong chance Samsung has already shipped a fix. So, go ahead and update your phone.

1. Open the Settings app on your Samsung phone and select Software update.
2. Now, tap on Download and install. Here, check for updates and tap on Install if a new build is available.
3. Next, reboot your Samsung phone and check if the pink screen problem is resolved or not.

Visit Samsung Service Centre

If none of the methods worked, you are dealing with a hardware fault. The most common culprits are a damaged display flex cable, failing AMOLED panel or moisture inside the screen. None of these issues can be fixed by general users.

Go ahead and visit a Samsung service centre to get the screen repaired. Note that since 2023, Samsung India has been running a one-time free screen replacement programme for Galaxy phones that develop a permanent pink, purple or green line.

It's a hardware defect that has plagued several Samsung phones, including the S22 Ultra, S21 FE and more.
