Summary

  • In the Geekbench CPU test, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 posts 77% faster performance than the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 in single-core workloads.
  • As for multi-core workloads, the 8 Elite Gen 5 is 65% faster than the 8s Gen 4.
  • The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 packs 3rd-gen Oryon CPU cores, while the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 features older Kryo cores based on Arm's Cortex-series cores.

During the Snapdragon Summit 2025, Qualcomm introduced the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, promising unbeatable CPU and GPU performance. There is another chip Qualcomm unveiled in 2025 called the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4, but does it stand a chance against the 8 Elite Gen 5? To find out, we have extensively compared both the chipsets across various benchmarks and added their specifications side by side. On that note, let's check out the findings.

Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 vs Snapdragon 8s Gen 4: Geekbench Score

Geekbench 6 CPU
Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 (Leaked)
Snapdragon 8s Gen 4
Single-core
3,831
2,158
Multi-core
11,525
6,989

The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 has surfaced on Geekbench, powering the Xiaomi 17 Pro with an impressive score. In the Geekbench 6 CPU test, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 scored 3,831 in single-core and 11,525 in multi-core. In comparison, the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4, running on the iQOO Neo 10, achieved 2,158 in single-core and 6,989 in multi-core.

Here, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 delivered a massive 77% performance uplift in single-core tasks and 65% stronger performance in multi-core workloads. Put simply, the older Kryo core based on Arm's Cortex lineup is no match for Nuvia-designed Oryon CPU. The 3rd-gen Oryon CPU inside the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 is plenty powerful and unbeatable.

Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 vs Snapdragon 8s Gen 4: Specs Comparison

While the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 was launched in 2025, it's still fabricated on TSMC's older 4nm node. On the other hand, the flagship Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 is manufactured on TSMC's refined 3nm (N3P) node. Apart from that, the 8 Elite Gen 5 packs the latest 3rd-gen Oryon CPU cores which can reach up to a mighty 4.61GHz. Meanwhile, the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 features older Kryo CPU cores based on Arm's Cortex-series CPU.
