Android 17's New 3D Emojis Are Now Live on the Pixel 11 Series

At the Android Show I/O Edition 2026 earlier this year, Google announced it is revamping its emoji library on Android with a new 3D look and gave a small preview of the upcoming changes. Now, it looks like the newly launched Pixel 11 series is the first set of phones to actually ship with Android 17's 3D emojis.

Android 17's 3D Emojis Live on Pixel 11 Series

First spotted by Android Authority, the visual facelift to Android's emoji library is exactly what Google showcased months ago. 3D emojis on Android 17 boast a three-dimensional look and appear more realistic than before with a glossy texture.

The emojis are currently live on the Pixel 11, Pixel 11 Pro, Pixel 11 Pro XL and the Pixel 11 Pro Fold.

The new design uses depth and shadows and the colours are in sync with Google's Material 3 Expressive design language for Android. From the above image, it is clear that Google's new take on Android emojis is more true-to-life and offers a richer texting experience than the previous version.

However, it would appear that even though the new 3D emojis are live on the Pixel 11 series, they still do not have access to Android's Emoji Kitchen. For those unaware, this is Google's emoji mashup feature, which creates new emojis by mixing the styles of two emojis.

Moreover, older Pixel phones running the Android 17 update have also not received the new 3D emojis yet. That said, since the Android 17 QPR2 Beta 3 update is now live, we can expect to see 3D emojis expand to other phones soon. So, stay tuned.
