As a tech reviewer, AnTuTu is easily one of the first tests I run on phones to measure their performance. Now, the public beta of AnTuTu V12 has rolled out, which is a fairly significant departure from V11.
AnTuTu says this update is built around making test results reflect real-world usage more accurately, revamping how it evaluates CPU, GPU, memory, and overall user experience.
Everything New in AnTuTu V12
The CPU test has been updated to better match how phone processors work in everyday use. The new single-core and multi-core tests take into account how chipsets increase clock speeds when more performance is needed and lower them to save power and control heat.
The GPU test is also more demanding now. AnTuTu has added more detailed graphics, improved shadows and softer lighting to better represent the kind of workloads future high-end games could bring.
There is also a new Cooperative Matrix test based on Vulkan. It checks how well different parts of a GPU work together when handling matrix calculations, adding another demanding test to the graphics benchmark.
The memory test gets several new additions as well. AnTuTu has added a dynamic latency test that puts memory under heavy, mixed workloads to check performance and stability. The sequential and random read/write tests have also been optimised to reduce the effect of outside factors on the results.
A new memory fragmentation test and improved app-level I/O testing are also included to give a better idea of how quickly a phone can handle everyday read and write tasks.
Meanwhile, the UX test has been rebuilt to better measure how quickly the system renders content and responds to user input. AnTuTu says this should make the score more closely reflect how smooth a phone feels in everyday use.

AnTuTu V12 isn't just about new tests. The app also gets a redesigned interface with a cleaner and more modern look.
The information feed now uses cards, making it easier to see more details at a glance. Users can also filter articles by category. The interface has been optimised for tablets and foldables, allowing the app to make better use of their larger screens.

AnTuTu V12 also adds support for Android's 16KB memory page size, which is designed to improve memory management on compatible devices.
AnTuTu has shared some sample V12 scores recorded under controlled conditions. This includes a room temperature of around 26°C, battery levels above 80%, and screen brightness set to 300 nits.
However, the important thing to remember is that AnTuTu V12 scores cannot be directly compared with V11 or older scores.
That's because AnTuTu has changed both the tests and the scoring system. So, a phone's V12 score should only be compared with other phones tested using V12.

The AnTuTu V12 public beta is now available through AnTuTu's official website and major app stores.
