Alongside the launch of the iPhone 18 Pro series, iPhone Duo, AirPods 5 and Apple Watch Series 12, the company officially set the release date for iPadOS 27, macOS 27 Golden Gate, and watchOS 27. Notably, the iOS 27 stable update also releases on the same day, so anyone updating multiple Apple devices can do it all in one go.
iPadOS 27, macOS 27 Golden Gate and watchOS 27 Stable Arrives on September 14
All three updates will roll out to the public on Monday, September 14, 2026, closing out a beta cycle that's been running since developer builds went live back in June.
If you've been testing the public betas, you'll be offered a Release Candidate update in the coming days that upgrades your device to the same build that goes public next week.

iPadOS 27 Compatible Devices
Unlike the Apple iPhones, iPadOS 27 does trim some older hardware from the compatibility list. The supported models are:
- iPad Pro (M4 and later)
- iPad Pro 12.9-inch (4th generation and later)
- iPad Pro 11-inch (2nd generation and later)
- iPad Air 13-inch (M2 and later)
- iPad Air 11-inch (M2, M3, and M4)
- iPad (A16)
- iPad (9th generation and later)
- iPad mini (A17 Pro)
- iPad mini (6th generation)
The highlight iPadOS 27 feature is the overhauled Siri AI, built on Apple's next-generation Foundation Models along with its partnership with Google's Gemini models for certain queries.
It's designed to feel closer to a modern chatbot, capable of using personal context and web results to give fuller answers. That said, the most advanced Siri AI features will be limited to iPads with an M4 chip and at least 12 GB of memory.
iPadOS 27 also brings refinements to the Liquid Glass design language and performance improvements across system apps.

watchOS 27 Compatible Devices
watchOS 27 is the one update this cycle that drops support for several older Apple Watch models. Only the following will be eligible:
- Apple Watch Series 9
- Apple Watch SE (3rd generation)
- Apple Watch Ultra 2
If your watch isn't on that list, it'll be staying on watchOS 26.

macOS 27 Golden Gate Compatible Devices
macOS Golden Gate marks a clean break from the Intel era, running exclusively on Apple Silicon. Supported Macs include:
- MacBook Air (M1 and later)
- MacBook Pro (M1 and later)
- Mac mini (M1 and later)
- Mac Studio (all models)
- iMac (2020 and later)
- MacBook Neo (2026)
Apple Intelligence features will work across all supported Macs. However, the most capable on-device model is reserved for M3 chipsets or later with 12 GB or more of RAM.
It's important to note that due to Apple's ongoing dispute with the European Commission over the Digital Markets Act, iOS 27 eligible devices in the EU won't get access to the new Siri AI.
Interestingly, the restriction doesn't extend to Apple's other platforms, as EU users will still be able to access Siri AI on macOS 27, watchOS 27 and visionOS 27.
