iPhone 18 pro and iPhone Ultra Could Be Pricey as Memory Costs Soar 400%

Rising memory costs could push up iPhone 18 Pro prices, while Apple's first foldable could start at over $2,000, as per a new report.

According to a report from Trendforce, the rumoured iPhone Ultra (Fold) could start at around $2,099 (approximately Rs 1,98,485) to $2,299 (approximately Rs 2,17,350) in the U.S. Meanwhile, the top variant could cost up to $3,000 (approximately Rs 2,83,654).

If true, this would make the iPhone Ultra, Apple's most expensive iPhone yet, well above the price of the current iPhone 17 Pro Max. The report also suggests that the foldable iPhone will come with a 5.5-inch outer OLED display and a larger 7.8-inch inner OLED panel with ProMotion up to 120 Hz.

Previous leaks have suggested that the iPhone Ultra could skip Face ID for a Touch ID sensor and may be powered by Apple's A20 Pro chipset with 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. The rear camera is expected to have a 48 MP main and a 48 MP ultra-wide lens, alongside a 24 MP front camera.

The latest report also suggests that iPhone 18 Pro memory prices have skyrocketed by 400% compared to last year, given the ongoing RAM crisis. Apple is expected to increase the price of the iPhone 18 Pro models by around $100, as it may not pass on the full memory costs to customers.

According to the latest report, Apple is holding off on price hikes to avoid slowing upgrade cycles, especially as consumers are already spending more cautiously. Instead, the Cupertino giant may lean on its Services revenue to offset rising hardware costs.

Apple raised prices on several products back in June but left iPhones untouched, a gap that looks set to close next week. The iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max and iPhone Ultra are expected to debut at Apple's event on September 9, 2026.
