As Apple's expected September 2026 launch event draws closer, iPhone 18 leaks are picking up pace. After a string of iPhone 18 Pro design leaks, a fresh report now offers a look at the phone's internal layout. From the looks of it, the iPhone 18 Pro series will indeed arrive with a redesigned Face ID setup that could finally shrink the Dynamic Island.

iPhone 18 Pro Vapour Chamber and IR Sensors Revealed

According to an X post by tipster Reptalica, the internal vapour chamber cooling system on the upcoming iPhone 18 Pro has been drastically increased in size. The tipster notes that it's huge, suggesting improvements in thermal performance to accommodate the new rumoured 2nm Apple A20 Pro processor.

Besides thermals, the tipster has also posted an image showcasing the front camera, Face ID scanner and IR scanner on the phone. With the IR scanner being placed differently and the reconfiguration of the TrueDepth camera system, it points to evidence that Apple could shrink the Dynamic Island on the iPhone 18 Pro.

A closer look at the CT scan of the front reveals that Apple has moved the infrared sensor to the side, separating it from the Face ID scanner and front camera. By doing this, the overall width of the display cutout is significantly reduced, allowing for a narrower Dynamic Island.

Additionally, a reply from X user @pipfix includes a full-body squished internal X-ray image of the iPhone 18 Pro. This scan further corroborates the new internal layout of the flagship, adding to the new VC leak.

If accurate, this hardware leak indicates that the iPhone 18 Pro will pack serious thermal management, helping things run cooler. The reduction in Dynamic Island could free up more screen real estate, offering a more seamless display experience. In fact, we heard about the iPhone 18 Pro featuring a smaller Dynamic Island at the start of 2026.

A recent Apple document breach at Tata Electronics has also revealed the iPhone 18 Pro's design, while also leaking supply chain information, blueprints and parts information for the smartphone.

Recently, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman also revealed that the iPhone 18 Pro series launch could very well happen on September 9, 2026. So, expect more information to appear as we inch closer to that launch date. Until then, stay tuned.
