The iPhone 18 Pro series is just hours away from launching and a new leak reveals that Apple could be giving the Pro models a smarter Dynamic Island. The phones are also said to feature a larger vapour chamber to better handle the A20 Pro chipset's performance.

According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max could pair a smaller Dynamic Island with expanded functionality. Thanks to leaks and reports, we already know that Apple could be shrinking the Dynamic Island on the upcoming Pro phones.

However, to complement it, the giant may expand its software utility. The new cutout may allow users to track three active background tasks simultaneously, instead of two activities in the current generation.

While we're not sure whether this is an iOS 27 feature or whether it will make it to older iPhones. Considering the smaller Dynamic Island isn't expected to be a direct result of revamped Face ID hardware, the feature may make it to all iOS 27-eligible iPhones with a Dynamic Island.

That said, Gurman also says that Apple may outfit both Pro models with an upgraded vapour chamber cooling system. This should help the latest Apple A20 Pro processor deliver sustained performance under heavy processing loads.

For those unaware, the A20 Pro could be based on TSMC's 2nm manufacturing process. A recent A20 Pro Die Shot leak suggests Apple may add another GPU core, making it 7 cores in total. This could enhance gaming performance while also increasing the need for better thermal dissipation.

Lastly, Gurman notes that Apple plans to equip the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max with better Pro optics and heavily refined imaging software. Rumours suggest the iPhone 18 Pro Max could get a variable aperture in the main camera. The Pro may miss out on the same due to its smaller size.

Apple's Surprise and Shine event could feature the iPhone 18 Pro series and the iPhone Duo, Apple's first foldable smartphone. The brand is also expected to reveal AirPods 5 and Apple Watch Series 12 during the event.
