Apple's first foldable iPhone Duo went on sale in India on October 23, 2026, and if you've been thinking about buying it, beware of a new scam. The iPhone Duo is being used as bait in online shopping scams, with fake websites offering discounts to lure potential buyers.
Fake iPhone Duo Deals Promise 25% Discounts
Cybersecurity firm Kaspersky has warned that these websites imitate Apple's official store and collect personal information, putting shoppers at risk of phishing attacks and fraud.
Kaspersky identified a fake website that closely resembles Apple's official store and advertises a 25% discount on the iPhone Duo. It also displays a countdown timer claiming that buyers have just 30 minutes to claim the offer, pressuring them to act without verifying the seller.

The website collects contact and shipping details at checkout and claims that a manager will contact buyers later to confirm delivery and payment. Kaspersky warns that this process could expose customers to further attempts to obtain sensitive information or defraud them.
Additionally, researchers discovered fake pre-order websites offering multiple languages and currencies. One claims to redirect customers to Apple's official website but doesn't.

Meanwhile, another targets Portuguese-speaking buyers, asking them to share their email addresses and WhatsApp-linked phone numbers to check product availability.
These tactics can expose buyers to phishing attempts and social engineering scams, even if they do not complete a purchase.

How to Avoid iPhone Duo Scams

Kaspersky has urged buyers to purchase the iPhone Duo only through Apple's official website or authorised retailers. Consumers should also check website addresses carefully and avoid clicking suspicious links or trusting deals that appear too good to be true.
The company recommends using security software that can detect fraudulent websites and phishing links. Buyers should also avoid sharing personal information with unknown sellers, especially when asked to provide contact details just to check availability.
If you have already shared your details with a suspicious website, be alert for unexpected calls, messages and emails requesting payments or additional info. If you entered your banking details, contact your bank immediately and monitor your account for unauthorised transactions.
With scammers exploiting the demand for premium smartphones like the iPhone Duo, verifying a seller before placing an order is essential to keeping your personal information and money safe.
Considering that the iPhone Duo launched in India at a hefty starting price of Rs 2,99,900, it only makes sense to cross-check everything before hitting that buy button.
Stay cautious, folks!
