Back in November 2025, Perplexity launched its Comet AI browser for smartphones, starting with Android. Now, after almost four months, it has finally also landed on iOS, allowing iPhone users to enjoy agentic AI web browsing capabilities on the fly.

Perplexity Comet AI Browser Now Live for iPhones

In an official blog post made on March 18, 2026, Perplexity, the parent company behind Comet AI, announced the arrival of the agentic browser to iPhones. It went up for pre-registration a few weeks back and is now available for all iOS users to download from the App Store.

This makes this the first major AI-centric browser to ship to iOS. This comes after Apple entered into a partnership with Google to let Google Gemini power Siri and Apple Intelligence features. As an AI-first browser, the primary USP of Comet is to let users leverage the power of Perplexity AI to surf the web, gain AI overviews and insights and also enable AI-backed automated tasks.

This means that users will be able to generate AI summaries and answers to their search queries online. It can even directly complete actions on behalf of the users by intelligently recognising on-screen context by using Perplexity's Deep Research and Hybrid Search features.

Moreover, just like the browser version, the Comet AI browser iOS app also comes with the Comet Assistant. Users can use the built-in AI Agent to view the contents of tabs, browse the web for them, summarise web pages, find emails and more. It can even support context personalisation via Perplexity's ever-expanding prompt library

It even supports voice commands for a truly hands-free automated browsing experience. In the iPhone variant, the Comet Assistant lives in the middle of the address bar. Also, just like on the browser, Comet AI can search and shop on the user's behalf. It even comes with a built-in ad blocker to protect users from spam messages and pop-up adverts.

Aside from that, Comet AI browser can whitelist frequently visited and manually assigned webpages and websites for a smoother, faster and safer browsing experience. Comet AI is free to download and use from the App Store on iPhones.

However, to gain the most out of it, users will need to subscribe to Perplexity AI's Pro or Max tiers, starting from Rs 19,600 for a year. The good thing is, for those unaware, Airtel users get free Perplexity AI Pro access for a year in India.
