Apple has been hard at work preparing iOS 27, as the brand has released three Beta updates so far. However, the giant hasn't abandoned iOS 26.6 and has officially released its fourth developer beta that has been under testing since May 2026. While not a huge release by any means, the iOS 26.6 developer beta 4 update brings a few quality-of-life changes.

What's New in iOS 26.6 Beta 4?

While this late-stage update is not packed with major features, there are a few interesting additions, along with a handful of large bug fixes, that should help improve the overall user experience. Starting with the contacts blocking limit, Apple is tweaking the restrictions on how many contacts a user can block on their smartphone. Currently, depending on the iPhone and iOS version it is running, users can block between 8,000 and 20,000 contacts.

Besides, the giant has made improvements to the anti-theft front, with the previously rumoured Android-like theft-detection feature finally rolling out. The feature uses motion sensors and Apple Watch proximity to determine whether the device has been snatched and then automatically locks the phone.

Additionally, the iOS 26.6 developer beta 4 update seems to lay the groundwork for the next generation of software by preparing the Spotlight index on both iPhone and iPad for the heavily anticipated Siri AI integration coming later this year.

The iOS 27 Developer Beta 3 update just rolled out and also consists of new settings for the new Siri, including Pace and Expressivity controls. This means that the development of the new Siri is progressing as intended, and it should be ready on time.

iOS 26.6 developer beta 4 could be the next final update that sums up the iOS 26 saga, and before Apple moves its focus completely to iOS 27. That said, Apple sure is moving a bit faster this year to get the seemingly final version of iOS 26 out, and the stable should soon make it to supported Apple iPhones.
