Apple has released the iOS 27 developer beta 3 update, and this time the spotlight falls on Siri AI. The update switches on a pair of voice controls that had sat unfinished since the assistant's overhaul was first shown off at WWDC 2026 in June.
iOS 27 Developer Beta 3 Finally Enables Siri AI's Pace and Expressivity Controls
At WWDC 2026, Apple introduced voice personalisation for the new Siri app with iOS 27, letting users move beyond a simple choice of male or female voice and instead pick from a range of accents.
Two additional controls, labelled "Pace" and "Expressivity", were part of that demo but were marked as "Coming soon" in the first developer builds. Now, the iOS 27 developer beta 3 finally activates them on iPhones, giving testers sliders to adjust how quickly Siri talks and how emotional its voice can be.

This is similar to how ChatGPT Voice lets users tune its warmth and enthusiasm, as well as choose style presets like professional, candid, or quirky. Apple's version, at least for now, stays focused on delivery rather than personality.
Aside from Siri's voice settings, iOS 27 developer beta 3 is a light update. The Reminders app has received a minor icon refresh. In addition, there's a new "Optimising Search and Siri" indexing message.
Meanwhile, we also noticed that 5G+ connectivity has been enabled on our iPhone 17 after installing the developer beta 3 update. In addition, the latest update brings more UI polish, under-the-hood bug fixes and stability improvements.

Registered developers can download the iOS 27 developer beta 3 update by heading over to Settings -> General -> Software Update -> Beta Updates on a compatible iPhone enrolled in Apple's developer beta program.
With the developer beta 3 now available, Apple is expected to spend the coming weeks polishing iOS 27 before making it available to public beta testers later in July 2026. The stable iOS 27 update is anticipated to roll out alongside the iPhone 18 Pro series later this year.
