When it comes to outrageously expensive and boisterously luxurious smartphones and accessories, Caviar is the one name that we hear all the time. From a Rs 10 lakh Trump-inspired iPhone to a literal Rs 2 Cr iPhone 17 Pro Max fitted with a mechanical watch, the brand has made it all, or so we thought. It is now back with custom snap-on magnetic backplates for iPhone 17 Pro Max and they are made with some of the craziest materials.

The Genesis iPhone 17 Pro Max Snap-on Backplate Is Anything but Subtle

The new snap-on magnetic backplates from Caviar has launched under "The Genesis" lineup of luxury accessories and include five different plates with different materials - Relict, Proteus, Orion, Stimulus and Vector. All are just limited to 99 units, with the Relic only getting 7 pieces at $4,490 (approximately Rs 4 lakhs) and are designed to fit only the iPhone 17 Pro Max.

This is because it is apparently using a real Tyrannosaurus Rex fossil, literally embedded within the backplate in the form of the checkmark-shaped decorative element. It uses aviation-grade titanium as the body of the backplate and also uses an alligator leather finish in a smoky gray-to-white Himalaya colour finish, completed with blue jewellery enamels.

However, for those who prefer a "less expensive and rare" material, Caviar is also offering four other finishes and material choices. There is the Orion option, priced at $2,060 (approximately Rs 2 lakhs) and it features a gold PVD-coated titanium frame, paired with blue crocodile leather and blue enamel detailing. It is designed to mimic the night sky.

Then there's Stimulus and Vector, costing $1,910 (approximately Rs 1.8 lakhs) and they use black PVD-coated titanium frames and black crocodile leather skin.

Lastly, there is Proteus at $1,630 (approximately Rs 1.5 lakhs) and it is the "cheapest" option amongst all. It uses a standard silver aviation-grade titanium body and is fitted with hand-crafted crocodile leather skin.
