Oppo has given us our first official glimpse at ColorOS 17 ahead of its expected September launch, with ColorOS Design Director Chen Xi sharing a set of teaser videos on Weibo.
The highlight of the teaser is a redesigned floating island navigation bar, which now extends across nearly all of Oppo's built-in apps, covering areas like Files, Photos, Phone Manager, Compass and Notes.
According to Chen Xi's post, the goal is to make the visual experience across the entire system feel lighter and purer. The navigation bar itself can be swiped left or right to move between sections, with noticeably more motion built into the interaction than before.
Chen Xi's post also confirms that ColorOS 17 carries forward the "fluid-motion fusion" effect first introduced with ColorOS 16, extending it further across the system. This includes the lock screen island, the notification side-swipe panel, app search and the new floating navigation bar, all designed to feel seamless and connected rather than like isolated animations.
Oppo is also introducing a new flexible feedback system in which interface elements naturally stretch, compress and bounce back in response to touch.
ColorOS 17 closed beta rolled out for the Oppo Find X9 Pro, Oppo Reno 15 Pro, Oppo Reno 15 Pro Mini, OnePlus 15, OnePlus 15R and Realme GT 8 Pro a while back. So, most of what the brand has shown has already surfaced online via leaks.
Testers have also spotted a redesigned Control Center with circular controls, an updated Phone app and dialer, new lock screen clock styles, a full-screen flashlight interface and progressive blur effects. There's also this "Contour Glow" treatment across parts of the UI, though none of these has been officially confirmed by Oppo yet.
OPPO is expected to formally unveil ColorOS 17 in China alongside the Find X10 series in September. A broader rollout is expected to follow through October and the rest of Q4 2026. Meanwhile, other ColorOS 17 eligible devices are expected to get the update in early 2027.
Another important thing to note is that since OnePlus has phased out OxygenOS for ColorOS 17, expect future OnePlus phones to soon run on the latest update out of the box.
